Anyone else thinking about trading for new Accord Hybrid?
The more I read the more I like - 50mpg, decent acceleration, lots of tech, what's not to like??? I will definitely be going for a test drive when these hit the dealer's lot

I've thought about it them I remember I don't own a home so where the hell would I charge it. It looks good and the MPG are impressive and decent acceleration. May in a few years when I'm ready to buy a home I'll get one.

The 50 MPG Accord Hybrid is NOT a plugin. All the energy is captured with regenerative braking and the secondary electric motor on the engine.

I figure, let them test the hybrid on the accord this year and hopefully they'll have a hybrid TLX next year.

The Plugin is rated for 115 MPGe and has an estimated range of 13 miles electric only.

well, you guys will flame me but I find very little premium about my TL. My last few vehicles have all had leather, nav systems, decent stereos. Oh, and on top of that most have had fold down read seats, and a trunk that's useable. The more I'm driving the TL, the more I'm unimpressed. SH-AWD is nice, and the engine is good (though under powered in my opinion). Those two features aren't enough to keep me in the car. I've been looking at options for a couple months, and the new hybrid accord is at the top of the list.

Because of the model overlaps, the new Accord may seem to be a better sedan than the end-of-cycle TL at this very moment. But when the brand new TLX comes out next year, it will once again stay on top of the economy-branded Honda Accord; and I hope by then, you won't regret having bought a lesser car.

I drove the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid and for a hybrid the acceleration was pretty good. Not like the 2.0l turbo, but acceptable acceleration for a car that gets 40-ish MPG. The MKZ has folding rear seats even on the hybrid and while the trunk is small it is better than hybrids without folding seats. However there is no spare.

I'm guessing because he posted it in one of the TL forums or something and this topic isn't about the TL so the mods move it to Car Talk.
Though I wish there was a third option like, "Honda Motor Company Fanboy Threads Forum"

I drove a Prius the other day as a rental (first time driving one) and 50mpg was impressive considering the traffic I was in. However, it's a golf cart. I don't see how someone that calls themselves a car enthusiast would purchase a hybrid unless the hybrid system was to enhance performance (like the Porsche 918).

I understand why they posted in the TL forum - I believe they wanted to know of the TL owners, would any consider moving to an accord hybrid. I'm one of those people who would consider it but not the first year model as Honda doesn't have a great track record with hybrids.

Now I'm more confused, you are going to go to the Honda level and get a smaller engine

Accord Hybrid? No thanks. I'd rather just get the I4 Accord (regulars here know I like the 9G Accord Sport in 6MT) and have excellent fuel economy for such a big car.
That, or I'd lease a Volt, on which I can get 40 miles on pure electric. That's my total commute most days. I test drove one earlier this year. The low-end torque is REALLY good.

We can bend the rules sometimes if it keeps these posts out of Car Talk.

That's pretty much the TL boards. All generations.
