Anyone else impressed with the Ford Taurus SHO edition?
I was really impressed and liked the regular taurus after getting one as a rental a couple of years ago.
I can only imagine the SHO is even better, and you don't see a ton of them around.

Between the two, I'd take the SHO, hands down. Little bit nicer in terms of fit and finish, and I liked the onboard electronics much more (the nav is better than in my TL). But as other have said, it gets pricy once it's fitted out the way you want it. That seems to be Ford's hallmark these days; decent sticker price, but by the time you add a few options, the sticker seems like it should be in german. That's not limited to the SHO.
The RT is very close in terms of horsepower and torque (speaking as a driver, not as someone looking at the actual stats). Also, it's very comfortable inside...backseat is huge. I found the car to be a bit too "boat-like". I decided against it the moment I had to cross a bridge with narrow lanes...one that I take everyday. Just didn't feel comfortable with the width. But it sure was easy to pass other cars. And it made a really nice sound when you did so.
In the weeks leading up to the purchase of my TL, I took a Charger (RT) and a Taurus SHO for a couple days test drive each (it helps to have friends at dealerships).

I hear you on the width. I was very nervous and not confident about that when I first got my challenger. BUT the SRT's suspension...or some VERY LIGHT modding to the RTs suspension will clean any "slop" and the car will no longer feel any where near as wide or large...and then it gets real fun
Yeah. Shit adds up on options. Starter with a 30k in mind on my truck. But after doing some research, I ended up getting all the options and the sticker was at 49k on it
But ofcourse u bought it because I got a hell of a deal on it!
And by the way, the price they sell for are always below sticker. Just gotta wwait for the right time.

$49K?! Dang Ford, you have a great product and (of course) you want to stick it to us. Hope we see some large end-of-model-year rebates down the line. That, plus using a buying service, will get the price back into the realm of reality. Just bought a 2012 Ford Edge (which are pricey too) last fall, but got a good deal and very happy with it. When it comes to the Big 3, I like the fact that Ford said "take your bailout and shove it"...
SHOs have always been expensive, but the earlier ones were more worth the money. My dad bought the first gen SHO brand new in 1989 and paid $27,000 for it. At the time though, it was one of the fastest sedans in the world, and a relative bargain for the money. I learned to drive stick on it, but the throw was very long and the clutch pedal heavy as hell. The new ones just dont have the WOW factor...
