Another one went down.

On Sunday bunch few of my friends decided to go into the mountains so we all met. I thought it'd be like 5-6 of us but it total 17 people turned out on bikes. All of us had our gears except one guy riding w/out jacket . So we all decided to go to Huntington Lake (about 65 miles from Fresno.) One of my buddies who have been riding for long time decided to be the leader for the group. We took off from Fresno and probably made 3 stops before we got to Huntington Lake. Once we got there we chilled for 20 minutes and decided to head back.

We all made it safe to our first stop where some got gas. After 5 minutes a cop shows, so we decided we won't all leave together, so the leader and I left first and then so on others came behind us. About 5 minutes into the ride, my buddy (the leader) passes a car and then suddenly a turn comes and I guess he went out of his turn and the tire slide on the gravel. Good thing he let go the bike and his bike went down the side hill. He walked away just fine, he was probably going 30mph, I was afraid the car he passed was going run him over since there wasn’t much of a shoulder.

here are few pics

So wait, this is the 2nd one that went down?

You mentioned one of your friends bikes went over a cliff but he managed to jump off in time. This looks like the same thing...

All things considered, looks like both he and his bike were fairly lucky.

There's a shortage of PW's here these days, make sure you keep it on two wheels.

So it looks like it was a left hand curve, buddy passes on the inside and is now setup to take a left hander in the middle of the road...Smart...

Turns just dont come up "all of a sudden". He should have been looking down the road and not at the car in front of him...

The roads leading to Huntington Lake are pretty tight, but was even fun in our Denali, until my daughter threw up.

I completely agree with this. sounds like a typical cocy biker to me. serves him right.

how does a turn come up all of a sudden on teh same damn road you just rode up? At least he was smart enough to wear gear.

I dont agree that he was "cocky", maybe he was, maybe he wasnt. But it just sounds to me that he was inexperenced.

He’s experienced but even experienced riders can go down. And you are right, even if he was being "cocky" or not, it doesn't serve him right, it's not fun going down.

Well...its a hard rule of riding that you dont know your limits til youve gone down....

<-----I know my limits...and that means the 2" chicken strips on either side of my rear tire are there for a reason...

I'm curious as to why you guys let the bike be pulled up that hill on its side?
Someone couldve easily put the bike on its wheels and walked along while the cable pulled it. Seems like it would do more damage the way it was pulled up.

Cocky or not noone deserves to crash
