Gross. I hope my engine doesn't look like that after 105K miles. Of course, I change my oil with synthetic every 5,000 miles.

Thats what the inside of my explorer's 4.0 OHV motor looked like. We tried to clean it out and ended up screwing the oil pump, which meant a junk yard motor got swapped in

those are 1.8T from Audi's. 1.8T from a jetta is possitioned differently so they don't have that many problems. Apparently the way they are possitioned in audis, the oil pan is too close to the turbo so when the turbo is hot it cooks the oil and making it sludge like that.
I don't know all the details but I read that somewhere.

^ Its a smaller pan as well. Happens in the Passats too.
