add me to the list, stupidest ticket EVER, 100% MY FAULT.

This is the stupidest ticket I have ever gotten, and it is 100% my fault, my stupidity, in NO WAY do I blame the officer at all, matter of fact he was very cool about the whole thing..

so...

this morning I had to take my Cat to the Vet, he's been real sick again (same one that had bladder stones last year).

pulling out of the driveway I hear a klunk in my rear suspension, so take the cat home and look under the car, and see that one of my sway bar bushing bolts is gone..

so I head to my buddies shop, get it fixed up.

----

while the car was on the rack the guys saw my e-cutouts, and asked about them, so when we took the car down I opened them to show them off..

took off down the street loud as hell..................

YUP, I got popped.. but not for the cut-outs, that's what got his attention, but not why he stopped me.

expired tags...

I'm such a moron, I have the registration and the tags, I tossed the envelope in the glove box and forgot about it and never put the sticker on the plate..

showed them to the officer, and he was cool with it, but I have a locking plate cover and the key is in my tool box at home... , normally I keep a small tool box with me, but I took it out of the car cause I was carrying some parts and needed the room and never put it back...

so, I got a ticket (fix-it) for expired tags, if I had the key with me and put the sticker on right there he would've let me go....

I'm such an idiot..

Live and learn. It could have been much worse so it sounds like you got off pretty easy. How much was the fix-it ticket for?

oh I got off very easy, the cutouts alone are worth having the car refereed and impounded..

the ticket is a $25 sign off once corrected fee and a $25 court processing fee..

so $50...

Damn I would've thought since you at least had them he'd let you off. Didnt think you'd actually have to put them on in front of him. Either way it's not that bad, good to hear the cop was cool about the cut outs.

I got the same ticket 3 years ago when I had my CL-S. I threw the envelope in the car, don't know what the hell I was thinking because I'm always on top of putting on that damn sticker.

needless to say, i drive safe not only because I don't want to get a ticket, avoid accidents or pissing off other drives, but to avoid the cops that are absolute dicks here in so cal. The ticket I can deal with, the snobby, "I'm holier than though because I have a badge and a gun" attitude I can't deal with.

I actually argued with a cop for 5 or 10 minutes that my tag was current. He was good enough to go back and check 2 extra times.

Then I said, "Look, I'll show you my registration. It'll be current. I know I've got the new sticker."

Pulled the registartion out of the glove box and sure enough, the sticker was still on it; I forgot to put it on the plate.

he let me go, but, boy, did I feel like an ass.

I've done the same thing. Pulled it out of the glove and slapped it on and he let me go. At the time I was in school and had a ton of books in the passenger seat so he cut me a break for being a student.
