Acurazine really is a unique forum...

I've been considering a civic SI sedan the past month or so as my new car, and as such have been trying to find some info on it.

I swear to god I've registered on

honda-tech
vtec.net
8thcivic

and none of these forums are as comprehensive and helpful as acurazine (1st gen CL in specific) is for me.

With that said, aside from the forums i've listed above, what other Si forums can I search for better info?

thats why i always ask my car questions on here, alot of other forums are no where near as knowledgeable and reliable. you can always get a good answer in car talk.

I have to admit, I'm still impressed by the way AZ and it's members behave. That is the main reason why I hang out here much more than the e90post forum or any other for that reason. The quality and knowledge of the people here are truly world-class. I feel privileged to have AZ as my home page on my computer. I'm here to stay.

There was one other forum that was anywhere near as helpful - which was chevytalk.com (the tri five section)... thats as good as you're gonna get as far as cars go, az, and there. havent seen any other good ones, but i haven't looked very hard either. anyway, good luck

this place is the bomb, I can't even lurk on g35driver without getting frustrated by the ignorance. The elise forum is my number 2 favorite forum, there are some tool bags on there but they are few and far between. I think because that community is significantly smaller, everyone works harder to play nice.

This new car fever is really bad now these days... I'm driving around my mom's RX350 since she's in Cancun and man...

Anything at this point is better than my CL lol.

i would visit clubrsx too. although their FG-specific forum's are still relatively new (compared to the dc5 forums), i find the members there to be very knowledgeable as well.

I've thought the same thing myself...

Lot's of other forums are full of fanboix... while we have our share here (not just acura fanboix, but others as well), most members here are true enthusiasts and don't really let the badge discourage them from liking (or not liking) a particular vehicle...

I think one unique aspect of AZ is that a lot of members have moved onto other brands, at least here in the offtopic forums. We're not really here to sing the praises of Acura so much as bitch endlessly about their refusal to move off FWD platforms.

Still plenty of fanboys in the individual model forums though.

^ yep

At least here people will give decent argument on why they like a car over another.

On the BMW forums their argument is always... "Well its not a BMW therefore it sucks, fag"

Very classy i tell ya

Acurazine is definitely the least biased forum that I have found so far. I wonder what it is about this forum's demographic that lends itself to a lower percentage of fanboys and ignorant douches. Well, it better stay the same because I've made it a ritual to come here daily.

Haven't been to any other car forums (no need to), but I used to be on the Pearl drumming forums a LOT and I never visit anymore because it's been taken over by people that act like 13 year olds. There's nothing like that anywhere on here, which is why I waste my time on here

I have one hypothesis ... most people who buy an Acura are value-conscious and will weigh the pros/cons of certain criterai before dropping $20+k on a car. Those who found this site obviously are researching the topic online and found this website (possibly before the AZ merge...) As incomes improve ... they may move on but their thought process doesn't.

Not to say other consumers of other makes don't have this same mentality, but those who surf don't necessarily have "maturity" as a high priority, especially in a passionate topic such as cars. (ie Jesal's comment about BMW forums, etc)

Just my

PS And yes ... beyond a doubt, I find the people who post / reply (for the most part) are very mature and thought provoking in the car talk section when a reasonable (not loaded) question is asked.

Yep, this a great site, although I haven't had enough experience to be put off by the BMW forums. And Ramblings is interesting and entertaining.

Many of the members here seem to be engineers or computer/web dweebs...uh, I mean analysts and technicians... This may account for a more measured and less emotional evaluation (much appreciated by me) of characteristics of different cars.

My apologies for the
Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with Civic forums, even though my wife had one...
Maybe try www.vtec.net??

I certainly agree with you. I originally came here to solicit opinions in regards to a TSX. Found everyone helpful and receptive. I eventually purchased an Accord instead, and have never felt ostracized for doing so.

Many of the cars I own or have owned have been American collector vehicles, and I often find the sites that "represent" them closed minded and unreceptive to any other types or brands of automobiles. This site has an excellent cross section of vehicle and brand owners that often seem to have a sincere interest in all types of automobiles.

Terry

The transmission is one of the better ones out there in the price range. I had a 6-speed 06 TSX, which is basically the same tranny (minus the LSD, which should up the fun factor a little bit)

I'd get the coupe though. 4 doors are FTL.

Coupes are nice, but I'd rather have four doors to put all my cool stuff in when I'm driving around!
