Acura SLX

Ran into an old SLX for sale. I wish we had that forum added to the top.

The Acura dealer sends 'em away. Shows you how well received that truck has been.

Did the SLX legitimately have anything the Trooper didn't aside from badges?

I wonder the same about the Honda Passport, but people actually bought those for some odd reason.

Ewww. Why dredge up another of Acura's past mistakes?

As much as the 2009-2011 TL was a stinker, I'd buy that over an SLX 365 days a year.

My dad had 2 isuzu troopers - they were decent for what they were - workhorses.

The slx was a simple rebadge - it was basically a fully loaded trooper.

+1 a old neighbor also had two Troopers, he moved for a few years to AZ and used to go four wheeling in the national parks down there. He and his son were were amazed how well the Trooper did on some pretty rough and remote trails there.

And the SLX, yeah that and the Passport were awful Acura/Honda's rebadging. Truly a bastardized response to the US dealers urgent request for SUV's

cmon guys, the trooper was a great suv for its day! i knew a good amount of ppl with them. heck, i knew one suregeon that kept three loaded troopers in the stable, and constantly upgraded to the new version every time. it was kind of a more reliable land rover for its day. power everything, leather, 10 disk, swinging tailgate, electronic foldable mirrors, off-roading settings, and a trunk that could fit a baby elephant.

i dont know why ppl bash on them so much. the SLX was even better because it was more luxurious - it just didnt fit the acura lineup and got a bad reputation as an unsuccessful rebadge.

^^ the ones youll find on the open market are probably night and day from the loaded ones. an optionless subaru basically has the interior of a tour bus. try and find a limited if you can.

first of all people are not bashing on the trooper itself, but more so of the rebadged SLX

and as far as not fitting into acura's lineup, basically it was TOO TRUCK LIKE, compared to there other offerings

The SLX/Trooper may have had various shortcomings - personally I haven't ever even sat in one - but I think what really sent them both six feet under was the damning rollover tests done during the time.

It had RWD guys, it was superior to all other Acuras with the obvious exception of the NSX.

Drove a trooper for 19 hours to Florida. I was far from impressed.

Its brakes were cooked when going up and down the mountains through Tennessee. I was scared for my life.

Next time simply push the O/D button near the gear shift....they all had 'em.
Otherwise know as push of the button downshift.

Didn't all SUVs from that error have rollover issues? It sure seems like it.

Also, Honda / Acura was late to the SUV game (imagine that) and had to quickly find some vehicles that met their quality standards to add to their lineup. Ala, Passport and SLX.
