Acura really makes a safe car
This is the second Acura that has been totaled on her by someone else not paying attention. the first was a 97 tl over ten years ago.
Yesterday she was driving and a guy in a 93 exploder didn't stop at a stop sign and rolled through it and probably hit her around 20-30 mph.
He spun her car around. When she came to a rest she tried to get out of her driver side door but as you'll see in the pics, that wasn't possible. She crawled out of the passenger side door.
He said that it was all his fault and he didn't even see her.
It was about 10:30 am, cloudy but not dark and it was a very open area where there are no obstructions.
She took a ride to the hospital a she passed out afterwards from seeing the bllood from a few scrapes on her forehead. She was sitting in the passenger seat when she did.
She suffered a concussion and all x-rays and mri were clear.
She is doing ok but her neck is really stiff.
She is very lucky that the car is well built. I was running about a half an hour from the hospital so the ride there was nerve wracking.
I hope none of you ever get a phone call from paramedics about a loved one being taken away in an ambulance. At least they had the experience to say that she was fine as the first thing they say.
I am a very lucky husband to still have his wife ok after something that really shook her up.
She now gets my 09 tsx, but she really loved that car and knows that things can be replaced.
It will be totaled. This is a testament to the safety that goes into these cars and i thank acura for this.
yes, that is a seat bolster

Ouch - that definitely is a direct hit right to the driver's door! I'm very glad your lady is okay. Acura - doing it's job with safey and performing as designed.

damn. sorry to hear. glad that mrs. dallison is ok. make sure she goes to PT for her neck. that kind of stuff can become chronic if not taken care of.
i've seen a lot of totaled acura's on here. and they certainly keep their owners and their passengers safe. i think there was only one story that happened up in baltimore where the one of the two kids in the rear seat died from a rear ending (they were at a complete stop, jeep cherokee at 70 mph slammed into the back on them).

Thank God your wife is OK. At least the striking moron admitted fault. Yet another reason my son and wife will continue rolling in Honda/Acura products no matter what I drive.
I'll be the first person indelicate to say it, though.....car shopping time! The only only silver lining to such an awful event.

End of the Year deals are my favorite. Only ever bought 1 car this way (helped my mom into a Nissan Altima), but every year the incentives are tempting and make me want to go shopping!

Like everyone else said, so glad your wife is ok, and as you said, cars can be replaced. Really amazing to see how incredibly well designed cars are now-a-days to absorb impacts like that.

Good to hear that she was alright after that. They definitely are well-made. My CL had similar side damage, as well as front end, when I got into the accident that totaled it. It didn't have side airbags, but the door beam kept it rigid enough to keep me OK.

I had my eye on a 2011 mb c300 but i'm not sure of reliability. I want to stay under 25-28k otd.

Most likely another tsx. But, i think the 2013 tl might be a good option since they don't seem to be moving. The rdx was another, but there aren't any incentives for the 2013.

Back to the more fun topic, I'm still not feeling the style of the 4G TL but it's not ugly enough to deter me if I were to come across a great deal particularly given its slight refresh. I say that could be the move.
