Yeah, they do need an EV. I actually like that there are only 2 SUVs, And not 4 or 5 like other manufacturers. I also like that they are reembracing their sporty heritage. To bad the NSX didn't quite work out.
To me, Acura is not back.
Acura is a work in progress but it's getting better than where it was ~6 years ago. Considering the Internet forums drama the Integra had, it's turning out to be quite a success for Acura.
Curious how'll the EV transformation will go, both Toyota and Honda shoulda been leaders in the BEV instead of Tesla but poor decisions led both to not prioritize BEV research and development

I would say not really. The Integra is really cheap on the inside for the price and missing some key features. The TLX is way too small inside for how big the outside is. The RDX and MDX are decent, but nothing special. The MDX Type S is way underpowered compared to the X5, although I am sure the resale value on the MDX will be much better.
Also, I hate the trackpad thing.
Style wise, I agree they look awesome.

The bigger problem I think is that the Civic exists. Same size/practicality, similar features / quality, but at a lower price point.

Boy do I miss the CL. Any other OGs that found Acurazine after getting a CL?
Acura will probably never make another mid-sized coupe. It's a better chance they'll revamp the NSX again.

That pic reminds me of the 2005 highpoint of Acura sales with 209k that great lineup MDX/TL/RL/TSX/NSX/RSX

I found Azine shortly before I got my CL-S6. Loved that car.
But no Acura is not back to what they used to be. They're the best they've been in the last 10-15 years but still a long way to go. The cars they were legitimately compared to in the early 2000s are leaps and bounds better and there's way more competition from new comers in the segment.

I agree with some of the automotive journalists that say that supercars that are undesirable when they'were new will be highly valuable in the future. I think the new NSX falls into that category. It's an amazing car, but the purists pretty much killed it.
So, again, I think Acura isn't exactly failing here. The issue right now is that for them, they had these few years between where they lost many fans who moved on to the Germans and etc., and so, the battle now is to win that market back. Like, for me, would I consider another Acura? I can't rule it out but as of right now, it's still going to be secondary alternative after I've exhausted my options in Audi, BMW, and etc. Still, that doesn't detract from what I think overall of what Acura has done lately: I think they have done a nice job.

I saw an integra typeS the other weekend as well (I can post pics if you guys want) and I thought it look pretty good. I would consider it more if it had those incredible civic type R seats and the rear seats made a half hearted attempt at belonging in a car that costs as much as the integra typeS. lots of plastics, no vents it looks really spartan back there.
the TLX, I only had a loaner Aspec and it exhibited some odd behavior with the brakes and I wasn’t a fan of some of the interior and gauge cluster. The TypeS, I have never driven it, but to be competitive in the market I think it would need more power. For me, I think power would be fine, but lack of manual just about writes it off the list.
the NSX, one problem I had, is they teased it for a decade and when it came out it didn’t have the wow factor anymore. Also, I hold the original NSX in very high regard, so the next gen didn’t attract me simply because it wasn’t the old one. I know, lame reason, but that’s how it is. I also the Nissan Skyline needs to be the R34, and the best viper is the 2nd gen with the GTS body style.
The only thing Acura could do to make me consider them is put a manual in the TLX-S or make an ODX (Honda Odyssey but Acura, nicer seats, quieter ride, etc)
But I don’t want the base ODX, I want TypeR 60 years of F1 heritage edition, hand build PMC style, with Max Verstappen signature embroidered in the headrest and dashboard.

LOL, thanks. Being serious though, I would take a more upscale version of my minivan, if it had a plug-in hybrid with 20-30 miles of electric drive and electric motors on the rear wheels to give it AWD, that would be too perfect. They can keep the ZF9 transmission of the current gen odyssey though… give me the hybrid and I’ll keep the 6 speed auto that my van has.
This is pretty much what happened with the NA1 and NB1; sales were great for the first few years and then plummeted. No one wanted one, and it didn't help that it took Honda 6 years to have the first meaningful update (bump in displacement). Now look at them.
