Accord EX-L Sedan 06 or 07
Here is my dilema. I am in the market for a sedan. I have always loved sedans and I now have the chance to get another. I have previously owned an 87 accord, 93 accord, 99 accord, 99 3.2tl, 03 3.2tl, and currently have an 04 mdx, which were all 4dr. I am looking into the 06 or 07 model accords, specifically an accord EX-L sedan v6 6mt. 6mt's are very very hard to find here in texas. I have listed below the 2 cars in question. Both are very similar but do have thier differences. I have been approved for the 07 and the 06 I will hear back tommorow first thing. We will be having our first baby in November so we both will need 4 drs. The wife took the mdx when the TL was replaced last Jan. She gave me her civic.

Both cars are so very very similar in everything including pricing. And after tires or detail and minor things will probably have cost me the same. I will let my AZ family decide. My MDX is the same silver and slate interior. Trigger will be pulled tomorrow evening.
I live in Houston and the summer days are very brutal

I'm biased in favor of the black one because I leased a black/black 07 AV6 EX-L sedan w/navi for three years prior to trading up to our 09 MDX. (While I like the Navi, I personally dont like silver as I find it to be an unappealing color for any car.)

My advice... Stay patient and wait for a 6mt to pop up. Yeah they're much harder to find but they are around. I think both of those cars are a bit over-priced IMO, especially with the repairs that have been made/need to be made. I got my 6mt (coupe) w/34k miles in perfect condition for $15,700 certified.

* Has Navi --- but for the price difference between the two, you can buy a portable navigation system that you can take with you and use in ANY car!
* OEM Navi will LOOK cleaner on the dash (but whose to say it's a better system?)
* Exterior colour is MUCH easier to keep clean!
* Exterior might not attract as much heat in the hot Texas sun, but the dark interior might feel warmer in the heat.
* 2 Owners -- Why has the car gone through two already? Lease or problems with the car?
* Why has the bumper been painted? Up-keep, or accident?
* You'd have to put money in to replace the tires
2007
* Better price (are you negotiating it down as well?)
* Balance of warranty
* Interior might feel cooler in the heat
* Exterior will be a b*tch to keep looking nice!
* Car seems ready to go
* Can buy a portable Navi system to use, but won't look as pretty on the dash as built-in
What's more important to you?
And to holding out for a 6mt if that's what you really want.... Have you search nearby states as well?

2 owners may have been a lease vehicle. for the first one. guy said it had just been traded in for a lexus. bumper was painted on the 2007
2007
still neg on the price. have seen 3 others exactly alike with a lower price. no balance of waranty. the warranty starts the day i buy it. 12/12 bumper to bumper and 7yr\10k powertrain warranty.
black will be a pita to keep clean
and yes i have only found 3 6mt. one is in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Texas. didnt want one from up north and the one from texas which is 4 hours from here is a smokers vehicle. i dont smoke and my wife has allergies. 15900 with 49k in black/tan
Which one would you go for street spirit?

Do you even want a black car (in terms of maintaining its clean appearance)? If you don't want to deal with that type of paint maintenance, don't even consider the black one. If you don't care about maintaining a perfect exterior, go for it (but negotiate).
Do you want to settle for an auto tranny / need the car immediately or would you be happier overall if you waited for a 6mt?

i like black although i have never had one. have had an accord in a dark blue and maintained it just fine. own a membership to a carwash so my vehicles stay clean and worked in the paint shop at a dodge dealership so polishing the cars really isnt anything to me. i have all the materials and the tools to do the job right. i like maintaining my vehicles. the 6mt will be near impossible to find within the parameters im looking for. auto trans is fine i just would have liked to have had a 6 speed as the honda trans are plagued with issues. Had the trans replaced twice in my 03 tl.

i got the same reaction when i asked even the honda dealerships to source me one. i told them i knew it would be very hard to find one. the guy said it would be near impossible. i found plenty of coupes. i want a sedan 6mt which is that much more rare.
#23
very true, i couldnt find a coupe, cant imagine the hassle of finding a sedan.

it would be easy to say that if i could even find one. wife will have to be able to drive the car as well which is why i didnt buy the first one i found. i hate that people have allergies. smoke bothers her and the car belonged to a smoker. that little mazda you got is pretty cool. there is a light blue one that parks close to me at work. hood scoop makes it look mean but then you look at the front and it looks like a little fat kid smiling. im sure they are pretty quick. my buddy has the black one but its not a mazdaspeed.

There are a good amount of v6 6mt's up here if you are willing to have it shipped to TX

I'm thinking of getting my license plate "DUMB SML"

Links not working but i looked on there and didn't find anything. maybe im not doing something right. But i wont be purchasing anything from out of state especially from up north due to the salt you guys put on the road.

Also after having my wife drive the car and having the sales guy try and change the deal on me i will not be purchasing the black 2007. Went with the general consensus and decided against the nav vs. warranty. Vehicle was a lease vehicle and after inspecting damn near everything i found some issues that would have bothered me. Back to the drawing board. Maybe something is telling me to hold off because my 6mt may show up in time for the baby.

I have to disagree. If it is "CPO" with a warranty, then that's the way to go. You'll have some piece of mind. If it is just CPO and there is nothing with it, then go see a mechanic and have it checked out.
#39
I've known plenty of people that have purchased CPO vehicles only to be screwed over because the car failed in some way and the dealer would not cover the repair costs, which I think is crap.
I, IMO, would tend to avoid a CPO vehicle, spend $50 to have a mechanic that I trust come out to check out the car, and get a better vehicle than a CPO one.
