Nope, it's only two speakers in the back. That makes for a grand total of six. Whoever told you there were four speakers was probably trying to count the woofer and the tweeter on the coaxials as two separate speakers. Nobody does that except advertising executives!

As far as a sub is concerned, yes, you will need an amp unless you get a subwoofer with an amplifier built in. You should be able to tap into the speaker leads in the rear without any problem.

Have fun!

This might be a stupid question...

I haven't decided if I'm going to or not but if I were to add a subwoofer/amplifier how do I go about supplying the power? Are there any power leads back in the trunk or do I need to run them to the fuse box? The last time I ever added a sub to a car was my old '84 Olds Delta 88 many years ago. Back then I wired the car completely with new head unit / speakers / speaker wire and so on.

Nope, no stock subwoofer in the CL.

As far as running power goes (I HATE RUNNING POWER), the best thing, if you want clean power without the engine noise, is to run a wire straight up the left side of the car to the battery (not the fuse box). Put an in line fuse at the battery terminal and then ground the amplifier somewhere in the trunk (the shorter the wire the better). It's a pain, but it's well worth the effort for the clean power.

Have fun!

I highly recommend dynomating the trunk. I have one 12 with a 300 watt amp and it hits plenty hard and sounds solid.

I stuffed a couple of towels in the back, where the rear speakers are, and it was a definite improvement over nothing. Summer time I'm going to redo my trunk , and use dynamat. I have 2 10" Infinity Perfects running off of a JBL 1200.1

The simple solution, is to bring it to a high end reputable shop and let then recomemd and install the Amp and sub woofer. Adding Dynamat will add substantial weight to your car ! I passed on it, but sounded really kool.........

Has anyone tried an amplified Bazzoka tube? I would imagine the install would be easier, but does it sound good?

I still have the factory head unit & speakers, the only thing I added was the Sub box w/Amp.
I had everything professionally installed back in July including a 4-gauge power wire to the battery w/circuit breaker.

The addition of the Sub in our car makes quite a difference with the sound.
The BOSE speakers are pretty good but they lack on the low end.

Hey Shawn, where did you have it done? I figure I'd ask since we don't live that far apart. At this time I haven't decided if I will add a sub or not.

There is definitely not nearly as much bass as there was in my Intrepid's Infinity system. I usually kept the bass up about half way on that system. To get the same out of this system I need to put it all the way up. Which doesn't leave any extra for those CDs that don't have a lot of bass. However, the sound clarity is better with the Bose system which to some extent makes up for the lack of low end.

Thanks for the info.

Have you ever dealt with H&R Car Stereo before? I had a sub and cd changer installed by them years ago and was happy with the service. They have a location very close to me in Warminster as well as one in Lehigh Valley (Allentown).

Yes, I had my Sony 10-disc CD Changer fixed there once.
That’s the extent of my experience with them.
They are supposed to be big with custom alarm systems, so I might be paying them a visit when I am ready to do the Alarm/Starter thing.

Hey Toker...do you have any pics of the dynomat thats in your trunk? Did you put it underneath the carpet on the trunk door? I was thinking about doing it too but only if its not noticeable. Doesn't it crack and shed away in time?

I took out all the interior including the top. I used a kit they have made for trunks and it has three diffrent types of dynomat. A type for the walls, floor, and the top of the trunk lid. It should not crack and shed at anytime. It made a hudge diffrence and I would do it again. Took close to two hours to complete. I recommend letting the dynomat sit out in the sun that way its a little hot. You can control it better that way.

I mean the acoustic treatment of the trunk and the bridged power amps and subwoofers for better low-end response...

I've already got subs, amp, and a box picked out for my install. I was just wanting some more information on how to go about it. I'm thinking of keeping the stock Bose head unit I've got. (should i go aftermarket?) Would I need any kind of conversion harnesses or kits for wiring the subs and amp up to the Bose? And here's links to all the stuff I'm getting.

Subs:

Amp:

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...KAC-9104D.aspx

Also I've got a '01 Cl-S
