07 tsx 6-speed or keep my 02 tl-s

So with only 2 payments left i'm torn between keeping the tl or trading it in while it still is worth some money and picking up an 07 tsx navi 6-speed with 25k miles at a local acura dealer.

My Tl-S
115k
a/c stopped working last summer uknown amount of money to fix
starter feels like its going

possible 07 tsx/navi
25k
certified
6-speed
$22,790

Currently i pay 388 on the tl, if i could get 6k for the tl with 2k down my monthly would be 288 on the tsx, but for another 5 yrs.

Not sure what i want to do. I drive my beater pickup daily to work, so the other car would just be weekend/long trips/winter. Not sure what to do, could use some input guys.

Thx
Michael

Depending upon the beater you have, maybe you should retire that and use the TL-S as the beater with the TSX for recreational use.

Damn - still making payments on a 2002? Did you get it used?

If I were you - I'd probably get the TSX b/c the AC fix is going to cost you $$$ and at 115k, you know how reliable those transmissions are.

The good thing is that you are used to paying $388 a month now and it'll be $100 less - or you can take a chance and drop a lot of money everytime something goes wrong with the TL.

beater is an 93 s-10 long bed, need it for hauling and homedepot runs, etc.

Bought the tl in 2005, same thing certified used with 30k on it. Tranny has been replaced once.

Hmmm I say pay yourself that $388 each month for a few years you could have around 10gs in two years not assuming interest. Put that towards a down payment on a CPO'd car then? Fix the a/c, it's cheaper then buying a new car. Do you like your TL?

Or keep it for another 4 years or so and pay cash for your next car?

I would suggest to keep the TL but if you do decide to get a new car - that TSX is overpriced. You can get an 07 TL-S with about 40k miles for that amount

That TSX is very over priced IMO, I'd keep the TL-S and save your $.

You're not going to be spending $388 in maintenance per month so the financially responsible thing to do would be to keep the TL.

No car payment = win

a 5 year loan on an 07 model year car is a baaaaddddd idea.

I agree with Hapa DC5.

If you can live without AC go for it. If not, get an estimate and use some of the money to fix it.

I pretty much agree with everyone, since the tranny was replaced I would keep the tl. Save your money for a couple of years and try not to have as big of loan on your next car, or no loan at all

Keep it and fix the AC or trade for a G35 or newer TL with the amount of money you are ready to spend on a TSX. You dont wanna go from a V6 to a 4

Keep the TL-S. I never suggest replacing your current car with a slower one. You will be disappointed. The 2g TL-S has decent power and that will be lacking in the torque-less TSX. Other than the tranny, the 2g TL-S is fairly reliable. Fix your issues somewhere other than a dealer.

That seems expensive for an 07 TSX. Personally I would keep the TL, fix the AC. The starter should not be too expensive. Get the car paid off and enjoy a year or so of no payments. Save your money. That should set you up real nice for a larger down-payment on your next car.

still debating what i want to do, but leaning more towards keeping the tl, some friends of mine who have driving the 6speed tsx say it would feel a lot slower than what i have now.

Not sure why you would buy a TSX when you can get a TL for nearly the same price. Get a TL instead that's my recommendation.

If it were me, I would definatly trade it in and get the TSX, the styling on them is more updated, and the A/C works. Esp. with the summer comming up, i wouldnt think about it twice. 288 a month, i would definatly do it.
