9.60 at 140mph Acura CL with a J series

I felt this was too cool for be wasting away in the 2nd gen CL section. This is one of Azines craziest builders/tuners and I still kick myself for not buying his custom turbo kit for my CL. This is a CL, it is powered by a J series engine, it is not very stock anymore, it's probably the only rear wheel drive Acura CL in existence. We have been waiting for this moment in the 2nd gen CL section for a long long time ThinJim is like a god to us.

If you don't want to watch the whole thing, the fastest Acura you've ever seen takes off at about 4:50.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TXcM...layer_embedded

Feel free to join us in our praise for his sheer insanity here......

I wish Honda / Acura will come out with a RWD Coupe, similar to the Genesis or something.

I give that guy a lot of credit. He could have built something for much less money from more common parts, but instead designed, fabricated, and built something entirely different from the norm. People like him that take the difficult route are true innovators.

FWIW this was a practice run. From what we understand it was the first run. According to ThinJim he was planning on shutting her down early but she felt like she was going straight so he decided to run it out.

This is all he told us.....

It's a start. More to come.
Like I said, in the 2nd gen CL section, he is a god. We'd kill just to have a rear wheel drive CL, this is beyond comprehension.

Here's another nice pic of the car. Side props to super trooper for his photoshop skills. He quickly answered the bell when ThinJim asked for flames on a CL dragster which as you can see made it to the final project.

An old friend of mine, Shaun Carlson (RIP), built the first tubed chassis civic (Stephen Papadakis AEM yellow civic) and helped revolutionize the import drag racing scene. I was always mesmerized by his genius and was in constant awe of how he built cars. People like him and ThinJim are the ones that propel new ideas and the car cultures that we love. Kudos to him!!

Thanks for the side props lol. I was just flipping out to my wife making her watch the video to see my Photoshop rendering come to life. I can't believe ThinJim finally got the project on the track. It's been a long time but it obviously appears like it was well worth the time and effort he put into the car. I can't wait to see an update with it going even faster!

Meh. I see room for further weight reductions.

Hole E Shit! Never thought I'd see a CL run anything below high 12's let alone sub-10's. Hat's off to ThinJim! Very creative project there.

Wow, it seems pretty quiet for a 9 second car too. At least it sounded quieter than those Civics. Can't wait to see where he goes with it after testing and tuning, I've followed his build thread here and there, impressive stuff

Any rough idea on power output, I recall in his threads about wanting to run 40lbs of boost.
