350z to NSX
Ok whats up everyone? I am currenty an owner of a Nissan 350z Performance 6 M/t i have recently had the urdge to by an Acura NSX. I have a few questions any help from you guys would be great! First, i here these are good reliable cars, but there maintance schedule is really really expensive...whats expensive? I would use this as a pampered daily driver, good idea? bad idea? Would get at the most 12K miles a year, looking more like 5-8k miles. Any info i should know before i get serious about this or should i just forget about it. I really dont see these beautiful machines on the road and i think thats what i want, one more thing i would not purschare brand new, i would be looking between 1993 - 2003 with very low miles? thanks guys

Although I am a Nissan guy, if the right deal on an NSX came along then I would swap out of the Z for the NSX.
The NSX is likely the only car in its "exotic" class that was designed for and capable of being a daily driver. That said, I would not want to use that collector's item as a daily driver.
Get the NSX anyway and then locate a old Civic for daily use.

yea i was thinking about an old beater for the daily use, but thats less i can spend on the NSX. lol I keep telling my self i onlly live once and just do it.......but i have a mortgage now and everything that comes along with it, i wish i would have just stayed at home a couple more years cause i would go buy one this weekend, i will review my money situation a few more times and see waht i can do, thanks for advice.....

they stopped making nsx's, so you have to buy a used one. they are still very expensive. One car that depretiates very slowly. It is my dream car too, but I can't afford one. I wish I could because i'd buy one, just like in my Avatar. that is my dream car, color and everything.

As for having to buy a used one, there is nothing wrong with that at all. If you do your research and be patient you can find exactly the one you want at an affordable price.
The 91-94 are exactly the same and can be found for $25-$35k. The 95-96 added a removable roof panel and are a little more expensive. Then in 97-01 they upped the engine displacement which in turn added HP and TQ and they are yet a little more. Then in 02+ they went to the fixed headlights and a different set of tailights as pictured in the avatar above.
I'm very fortunate as to having been able to afford mine and keep my Integra GS-R and our 04 TL.
I'm probably going to be getting the 07 TL Type-S in a few months once the NSX is paid off. Then I'll be finished.

imo i really think they are a really good price, i just dont know how expensive it is to own them and maintnance them as a daily driver, ive done a little reserch and it seems that they really are not that bad to maintain.....about $2,000 - $5,000 a year depending on what happends....my insurance is going to move up a little tho $243 (350z) a month and with the NSX im looking around $300 a month....
92NSX how often do you drive yours, yea i would love to keep the Z and get an NSX but trying to get another auto loan is impossible for me LOL,

At your age insurance probably would be pretty high. We pay $169 for all three cars.
I drive it normally only on nice weekends. It weather is bad I just take the TL when we want to go somewhere.
$2k year for maintenance is WAY high. I only change the oil in mine and nothing else maintenance wise. Of course you have the 60k that are a couple of thousand but those don't roll around but every 5 yrs or so.
Where do you come up with those numbers for mainentance anyway?

^ I agree. 2k - 5k seems a tad too much. I've done some reading on nsxprime before and I get the idea that fluid changes and tires are you main expenditures with a "big" service every 60k or so.
I'd go 95+ just because I'm a sucker for open topped cars. 97+ because I'm a sucker for a bit more power. IMO, you can't go wrong with a 97+ and depending on your preference for flip up lights or the fixed ones you can make your pic.
Still think this is one of the most timeless designs in existence. I love the pre targa ones with the all black paint scheme from the door sill up. Makes 'em look like F16s Not surprising because the the original design theme was based on the look and feel of a F16.

I want one too, but not yet. I just could not see driving it everyday.
You might:
get sand blasted on the highway by some truck with no tarp
get rock chips on your hood from tire treads that just spun the rock out
get door dings from mindless idiots
ruin the performance engine driving it everyday in stop and go traffic
I can't think of anything else, but you get the picture.
Keep the Z until you can afford the NSX and a daily driver you won't mind driving everyday.

One note, the fixed headlamps didn't occur until 02+. However, you can do the update to the newer style on the older car for a few thousand $$.

4. What the heck are you talking about? There are plenty of these cars running around with over 100k miles that are daily drivers that haven't ruined the performance of them because of it.
What do you base that statement on?

The NSX engine should last 200,000 or 300,000 miles if maintained properly.
Thats the great thing about the NSX, its not all that expensive to maintain. Not much more than say a Legend.
Tires are your main expense really

my work hours are 5am -1pm on the road with alot less traffic, especially at 4:30in the morning on the way to work, and im not to worried about parking because i have my own parking spot at my job(ALONE BY ITSELF), and i will use fiancee's vehicle for bs use (groceries, mall, shopping ect.........but with that said ive have narrowed down to do the smart thing anyways and buy a cheap daily driver whith it, so it will probably be around mid next year before i get serious on the NSX. Im not going to rush and get a cheapy that i will regret, but i want to thank you for your guys advice....untill then i will be saving up for next year...........

I would go for it
