yeah the Z has different intake ports, more valve lift, diff ecu programming...other than being tuned differently they are pretty much identical...The real difference in the Z engine is its airflow due to the free flowing exhaust and oem cai.

If you bought just the block from the dealer and then used aftermarket internals for everything else (forged pistons and rods, etc), it would be cheaper I think.

They are already in the process of rebuilding the engine with stronger internals to allow the car to break into the 10's
