They did, but it's not production (dubbed HSV-010). They should make it for consumers again though, Acura's current design language could look awesome in NSX form....

Is it just me or is it starting to look a little like the previous model Mitsu Eclipse?
Either way, I'd take one at a reasonable price, just wouldn't pay out the nose.

I hope Nissan looses a class-action suit because of this car, the whole premise of buying a car with a feature included stock that the manufacturer knows destroys the transmission they ought to pay out the nose. The GT-R is a sad excuse for a halo car, if they can't build the damn thing as fast as a Porsche without a shit warranty then they shouldn't build it at all.

The car’s warranty now covers use of the launch control
I beleive there was some bonehead a year or so ago that bought a new GTR, and launched it incorrectly too many times, blew the trans, and wanted warranty fix. They (Nissan) pulled the computer and could tell exactly what he did. The manual stated specifically NOT to do what he did. But that is all I remember about it, I do not remember all the specifics of his launches.
By next year, it'll be $100K!
Seriously, regarding the price, wtf is Nissan doing? IIRC, in 2009, they were around $70K. Then the 2010 model shot to $80K. Now it's $90K.
This car is on a fast track to following the NSX's downfall.

The car’s warranty now covers use of the launch control; stories of exploding transmissions and denials of warranty claims have dogged the GT-R since its debut. However, the software now requires a 1.5-mile easy drive after every four launches. Mizuno says this is to protect the driver’s neck from injury, although we suspect a desire to stem escalating transmission temperatures also factored into that change.

On another note, automobile had a nissan test driver do this, and they never got 2.7. They got times varying from 3.0 to 3.4. Its all about conditions. Under the very best conditions can you pull a 2.7
I'd take a porsche any day of the week over the GT-R. The GT-R is stupidly fast. Thats really all it has. From readings, the only way the car is fun is if you are driving fast. You don't feel connected to the road as you do in other cars, like porsche which I hear has one of the best connectedness out there.

The GT-R is also supposedly very uncomfortable while driving.
2.7 is eyeball flattening for sure, but you lose a kidney doing it.

The fastest 0-60 i've done in a car is my moms accord. which is low 6's possibly high 5's. Other than that I've done it in my acura, and my dads corolla. I wonder how that feels

What a buzzkill.

"Buy our really fast car but don't do anything with it. It wasn't really meant to be driven like a high performance car. We were just trying to undercut Porsche price wise. We didn't really think the people who would buy an 80 thousand dollar Nissan would actually want to drive it like a Porsche. Sorry....we want you to buy, but don't play.
Thanks
Nissan"

Sounds reasonable.

What a buzzkill.what I dont understand is why they give a switch to turn the VDC off...AMG traction control is supposed to always be on but dont make it so easy to defeat

though...
