A friend of mine who works with me has a friend who is a Chevy fleet driver. He stopped by yesterday with e 2010 Camaro SS, black, HID headlights, leather, big V8.

I work outside a big building (one story, but long) that is all brick, and he revved it one time and the rumble spilled my drink off my computer.

I went to go look outside to find the sonofabitch that did that, and was nicely greeted by an older gentleman with a leather jacket and jeans. He asked me if I wanted to sit in the car. I politely told him that I did not because I would probably steel the thing.

We started talking, and apparently he has to put something like 1,000 miles on the car by Monday to test it. I don't know why, but that car was sweet.

One of my co-workers walked out too, and she came up to the car, was looking at it, walked up to me, and said, "This car is making me wet."

Quote: If you think this is bad, look at the Audi A8 with a 4 cylinder =\

We're all going through an economic crisis(except the rich people), and the world is going to the shitter with all the pollutant in the air. Why would you want a V8 at this point in time? It is almost smart to make a V6 Camaro. Think before you guys express your opinions. How many hours of engineering do you think they threw into this car before releasing it?

You all sound like spoiled brats who want the $400,000 Ferrari because your buddy has a Carerra GT. Four cylinder A8s is fucked up; V6 Camaro, I think not.
There was serious talk at some point about offering the 2.0DI Turbo 4cyl from the Solstice/Sky Redline as the base engine for Camaro. 260hp/260tq, but that thing would be on the boost ALL the time like a big rig is with that weight.

It may yet happen in a few model years.

Getting back on subject, I would buy the V6. It's RWD, more HP than my CL-S and it looks good. I'd especially buy it if they went with the split exhaust like the SS

Quote: It will probably going to handle well too for a muscle car. I thought it was going to have a solid rear axle like the mustang.
based on the new zeta platform, should handle pretty well

Depends. I don't know what the Z28 model will cost and the SS i bet will be near corvette prices. 306hp is impressive, my 97 WS6 was rated at 305 and my 98 at 325 both V8's. Buut i just think if your going to buy a T/A or camaro in this case, get the V8. I bet the MPG for the Z will be clost to what the V6 is. I think there just going to make the price a bit steep. I'm thinking a Z will be 30+.

I'd be happy with 306 HP in my Legacy (but it weighs only 3300), and that number is nothing to sneeze at. However, if your wanting a Camaro, the way to go is with the V8. Just save some extra coin and do it right.

I just saw the new Challenger R/T here (at the US base car sales). That thing looks quite nice.

Challenger's are nice but i did a little reserch and found that the SRT-8 model is rated at 425hp and 420trq and comes in at a cool 4,160lbs. The SS camaro 436hp/403trp at 3800lbs.

If you go to build your own camaro, there are some really cool options, like the RS package with halo headlights, racing stripes etc...

Personally, I think elevating the V6 version of the Camaro was a very savvy move on GM's part. Not only was gas going for $4/gal late in the development cycle, but it also challenges the notion of "muscle car", which for some means "one trick pony".

At 306 hp. it is more powerful than many of the traditional muscle cars (though not the newer ones) AND it handles. I think it is a mistake to think of this car as equivalent to the typical entry level 6 cylinder pony/muscle car.

It is 6 cylinder by design, not just to create an entry point.

The new Camaro is pretty sweet. I don't begrudge the V6 owners as they will likely make up most of the sales, and 300 hp in a V6 is pretty good.

I agree with the poster who said it looks better than a TL and is just as fast.

I looked briefly at the 2SS Camaro but decided I needed four doors for the fam (see sig )

I would buy an LS with manual transmission. The price point and fuel economy make a lot more sense for a daily driver anyway. The VQ35HR in my Z throws it down the road with pretty damn good authority for a daily putting around car, and the 3.6 GM should perform very similarly but with noticably better fuel economy. This is the kind of stuff GM needs...thus far only a few automakers have taken the V6 to that level of technology and refinement.

I changed my mind, I don't like the new Camaro. I just saw an orange SS on the road and it looks like crap from the back. The exhaust does not look very aggresive and the tail lights look like crap..........

Has anyone hit on a Grand National GNX was a 275 hp V6 muscle car... Toyota Supra? If the Camaro V6 is built right and w/ the addition of about $10k in mods (turbo), you could have a very fast 400+ hp car that handles great for under $40K.
