At this thread.I think GM is just trying to get rid of the image that all they build are gas guzzlers. Now to mention they have to hit CAFE standards. Makes sense to me. A fuel efficient V6 for those who want it, and a powerful V8 for those who want it.
Lets get it back on topic children.
And why is this even being debated. Haven't V6 muscle cars been around since the muscle car was created? this isn't anything new. We all know its needed for the V8 to exist. Can't we all agree this is a pretty nice V6 and be done with it?
i love hearing you people taking a shit on the new Camaro V6....so let me get this straight, most of you are acura owners, this V6 camaro will take a shit on any of your acura's all day long in terms of power and handling and MPG (unless of course you have an NSX) and you are talking shit?
If I was looking into a Camaro, I'd love to get the SS V8 with a manual transmission. But the V6 by no means is a joke. It's making power that V8's were making just a couple years ago.
LOL...I agree with Bubba here. I mean we're all car enthusiasts at heart, but a lot of people here on Acurazine are or were Acura owners at one time. And when has Acura ever had anything larger then a V6 in a mass market car. Oh, never.

Fact is, NO ONE is cross shopping a v6 Camaro vs. the TSX. What people are saying is that the Camaro should keep up the historical guise of a muscle car if people want that name to continue to mean anything. Acura, on the other hand, isn't in that game.
I, personally, could not possibly care less about 1/4 mile and 0-60 times - I do, however, care about comfort, looks, and if it comes will a little performance, that's nice too - hence, why I drive Acura's and Infiniti's. If I wanted to rip up pavement, I'd get something else.
With that said, I don't mind the Camaro with a V6. Like Dom said, it's needed to sell the V8's. I just happen to not like the look of it.
The Mustang weighs ~400lbs less than the V8 Camaro, and in 2010 it will have around 330 hp, I believe.
That argument might actually make sense if the Camaro went up against ANY Acura...

Anyhow, in the last decade, these "muscle cars" have always had a V6 counterpart which have historically been their biggest sellers. And as you and Dom have mentioned, the V6 is what sells and will continue to sell in order to allow GM to produce the V8's. If anything it gives your average daily driver access to an American icon, not exclusive to the V8 wagging 1/4 mile trumping good 'ol boys.
What I don't understand, is the "feeling" people get from driving these muscle cars. Some people, women in particular, think they're driving a damn Ferrari or Porsche when they're in these things. Especially when it's a drop top.
306 is a good amount of juice, imo. The V8's back in the day produced a lot less, shit the Camaro SS and TA Ram Air models were hyped up about having 330hp when they came out back around 98-00(??). Although, seeing how infiniti has a 330 or 337 hp v6 in the G37, it would have nice for Chevy to match that. But I guess the higher you make the V6, then the V8 has to go even higher to make it worth the dough.
I built a SS with the RS package (HID's, darker wheels) and upgraded radio for $32,650, which IMO is alot of car for the money. And you know in this climate that they'll be some good financing or cash back after a couple months.
Yeah well alot of those options are definitely not neccesary, IMO.

I really like the look of the car too. I just wish the designers would have made the head lights more rectangular to flow with the hood line, instead of the round eye look.

anyone photo chop that headlight set up?
Well I'll have to agree Chevy did a really good job with this car, aside from the enormous weight its carrying. Its designed to cater to almost anyone now, having features similar to what the new TL offers. Bluetooth, USB input for audio, HIDs, heated leather seats, Brembos all around, remote start, curtain airbags, etc. All I really want is the 1SS/RS package and that ends up at $33,095 MSRP.... hell of a lot of car for your money.
I just wish they had t-tops because it really is that fun cruising with the tops off, but then again the car would be even heavier because of the need to have additional bracing.
It's going to get real good once Ford puts the EcoBoost V6 and their upcoming 5.0 V8 in the Mustang. Hopefully they give it a 6-speed manual this time too

just looked at their website....29epa for the auto and 25 for the manual...how the hell does that work out
and i heard their coming out with the Z28 with CTS's supercharged LS9(?)
and costco..do you have any pics your camaro

And the Z28 will be getting the CTS-V's LSA, which is a slightly detuned and de-contented LS9. No forged pistons and rods, etc. But its doubtful that it will ever come out
No current ones.... I've been lazy to wash it since its been raining every week or so. I have been meaning to though, eventually I'll get to it
dude cut the shit, you're starting to ruin the thread...of course the man said some stupid shit! but jeez! let him know only once, we all get your point...now im starting to thing you're retarded too.

anyway, when you think "Camaro" you think sports car.
Like i said before Im all for the gas efficient V6 Especially w/ 300+ HP, but the V8 is really what any enthusiast should buy in this car.
ONE more thing, the best way to go fast is light weight and that 3700 lbs isn't doing it for me in a sports car...I mean if it was a luxury car okay, but to bring back Camaro and have it be 3700lbs? not so much.

I'm glad that they didn't wuss out and put the standard 3.6 in as the base model, and ponied up to the DI engine instead. I'm disappointed in the weight, and I think the beltline is way too high on the car, and makes it look fat (because, well, it is).
I'm a little shocked on the 29mpg EPA for the A6 model (initial reports were 26), although 25 for the M6 isn't surprising. If you haven't noticed, virtually everyone is gearing their MT cars shorter than the auto cars these days- the 3G TL is no exception. I suspect that they do this to keep NOx down, and to prevent the retards who can't/won't downshift from coming in for engine warranty claims after they ping a hole in a piston.
If you think this is bad, look at the Audi A8 with a 4 cylinder =\
We're all going through an economic crisis(except the rich people), and the world is going to the shitter with all the pollutant in the air. Why would you want a V8 at this point in time? It is almost smart to make a V6 Camaro. Think before you guys express your opinions. How many hours of engineering do you think they threw into this car before releasing it?
You all sound like spoiled brats who want the $400,000 Ferrari because your buddy has a Carerra GT. Four cylinder A8s is fucked up; V6 Camaro, I think not.

Its a good step in the right direction for Chevy..
The V6 has plenty of power, I think we'll mostly agree on that. However, a Camaro is all about a bit of excess, so the v8 is where its at

This bashing crap gets old.
