2009 Acura TSX commercials

What do you think? I myself don't like the rear taillights, why only 2 circular taillights pattern. I prefer the ones on the 1st gen TSX, which had 4 circular taillights.

Luxury over sporty character. Maybe I'll get one when I ... I dunno, when I decide to grow up.

The UK Accord gets things the TSX doesn't ... lane departure assist/warning, radar guided cruise control, adaptive climate control ...

I hate the new Acura commercials. The people, setting, and scenario make it seem like they are advertising for snotty, metro sexual males that need a college text book in front of them at all times to get through life.

I prefer Acura when it was more like this.

This car is so sophisticated that it takes information supplied by the satellite navigation to determine the exact position of the sun so it can adjust the air-conditioning to suit.

Those commericials arent bad. It's attacking that group thats trying to get itself established, but cant just yet afford the M3 or330i and will have to settle for a 328i.

The Integra one back in 94 may have been cool. Today, that'd be just cheesy as fuck.

I preferred Acura when it used to actually try to make sports cars.

Aside from the NSX of the recent past it hasn't had anything that's a sports car since the ITR.

I think there's a very large difference in a car that's "sporty" and a "sports car."

Don't tell that to all the youngins around here who think that comptech mods and a sub 14 quarter equals a sports car.

I like the ads. Acura has clearly targeted its market for the TSX in the ads--youngsters who are looking for their first luxury car.

I also like the new TSX's looks--the grille is nicely integrated. I'd be satisfied with a TSX if I were just starting out....especially a 6MT model.

What I REALLY want to see is Acura's attempt to sell the MMC RL. I have no idea how they're going to sell that ugly-ass grille on it...

While I think the Integra wasn't exactly a sports car (more like a sporty car), I think the ITR should be considered a sports car. Even in its stock form it is track-ready and outhandles a large number of RWD or AWD competitors. It's almost every bit as much of a sports car as the s2k (unless you don't consider the s2k a sports car, then we're talking about the definition of a sports car) I'm sure you guys have seen some of those videos of the ITR on track in BestMotoring videos and such.

Apparently I need to look like some sort of "keeping up with the Joneses" metrosexual douche to buy a TSX.

:edit: I see someone else is thinking the same thing..

The S2K is a true "sports car", the ITR is not. Period.

but what are you basing that claim and difference on? The fact that it's got 4 seats? the fact that it's a FWD?

I understand where you're coming from regarding the S, and I've owned the S myself, but I'd still consider the ITR as a sports car. While I haven't driven one myself, the DC5R has always been praised as the best handling FWD car and handles better than most RWD cars (so is the DC2R, I believe).

I think we can agree that 1/4 mile times doesn't necessarily make a car sports car, as you also considered the S as a 'true sports car', since the S is nothing spectacular in this department either, only very slightly faster than a DC5R, if any.

I really liked the first gen. TSX, I drove one for almost 3 years(the longest I've ever kept a car) and this new one does nothing for me. If this was the TSX that was available when I bought mine, I wouldn't have bought it. It seems every new generation of a platform is one step further from what I want, and this is hardly exclusive to Acura, cars just keep getting heavier and more bloated and I don't like it.

I test drove and considered the TSX for my second car but premium in a 4cyl that gets low MPG really hurt it's chances against the camry/accord/altima competition.

TSX's MPG is underrated. Anytime i've had one for a loaner I've gotten 35 mpg on the freeway.

I almost got the TSX with a 6M, until the SO mentioned an auto trans- but the TSX was on of the most balanced of the cars I drove in 2005.
The new TSX definitely looks too stylized in photos and is much too large for its class of car.

I'm hoping Acura doesn't bloat and overstylize the TL. One of the best things in the transition from the 2003 to 2004 2G-3G change was that the TL was shortened and horsepower increased while the suspension and exterior design tightened up.

Nice commercials. It looks better but not there yet.As for the sun and AC feature, the a6 from Audi was among the first cars to get a similar system.

I'm basing it on the true definition of a "sports car" (how many times do I need to put that in quotes for you?). Those two things you mentioned above and the fact that its not a convertible does NOT make the ITR a "sports car" no matter how setup for racing it may be. Got it?

According to the wiki, it's a very grey area:

Most vehicles referred to as sports cars are rear-wheel drive, have two seats, two doors, and are designed for more precise handling, acceleration, and aesthetics. A sports car's dominant considerations can be superior road handling, braking, maneuverability, low weight, and high power, rather than passenger space, comfort, and fuel economy.
Sports cars can be either luxurious[2] or spartan, but driving mechanical performance is the key attraction. Drivers regard brand name and the subsequent racing reputation and history (for example, Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Porsche, Lotus) as important indications of sporting quality, but brands such as Lamborghini, which do not race or build racing cars, are also highly regarded.
A car may be a sporting automobile without being a sports car. Performance modifications of regular, production cars, such as sport compacts, sports sedans, muscle cars, hot hatches and the like, generally are not considered sports cars, yet share traits common to sports cars. They are sometimes called "sports cars" for marketing purposes for increased advertising and promotional purposes.[3] Performance cars of all configurations are grouped as Sports and Grand tourer cars, or, occasionally, as performance cars
