2008 for Acura brand: issues.
2008 for Acura brand: issues.
An year in "numbers".
Positive sides:
- Acura presented:
2 new cars (TSX and TL)
a restiled one (RL)
- We saw:
the spies of a new CUV (MSX)
the spies of the next gen. supercar NSX.
- The TSX and the TL got even more technological, and the TL got the Sh-Awd too.
It was a very interesting year for us: many talks and discussions.
Negative sides:
- The new brand shield is simply ugly, the power plenum looks good only in the TSX. Maybe.
- The TSX miss a V6.
- The TL got more technological, but everybody now has to be technological, all the luxury brands got the same features. Nothing more. VGA screen, Hard disk, Dolby digital and so on.
- We preferred a technological evolution from Acura in different directions:
- RWD platform.
- 6 AT (7 too it will be ok) transmission or DSG. (Why we have to wait the 2010 for the 6MT on the TL??).
- The restiling of the RL shows very clear that Acura doesn't know what to do with this car: it has the same features of the TL, except for the ventilated front seats, it's more expensive, it's less powerful and it's ugly like hell. Shame on you Acura.
- The spies of the new CUV... WHO really needed a new crossover in the Acura range at this moment? Nobody. Another huge, enormous mistake by Acura.
- There is no hints about a new midsize COUPE', like the Accord one or the Honda S2000. We REALLY miss it, and don't understand what Acura is waiting for... They have a ready platform for that!
- Red signal for the next gen. NSX?
If it is true, it will be another BIG (marketing more than financial) mistake from Acura. The last one, and the biggest for Acura during this year.
Happy new year.

I work at Acura as a tech, the most excitement *I* see is when some cool car gets traded in...
Acura can't build a good car to save their life. Honda in general is way too conservative and doesn't build anything for enthusiasts - besides their motorcycles.

In general i have to disagree with this statement. But as of the last few years i see what your saying.
Well they have (NSX, S2000), but yeah, like 55 said... not much lately.
