2006 Monte Carlo SS
What do you think of the Monte Carlo SS ? I personally think this car is very impressive! my parents have a 96' Monte Carlo LS and it has only an 3.1 liter but it is very very quick. The 2006 Monte Carlo SS has an 5.3 liter w/ 303 horsepower V8 engine. Here are my opinions on the 2006 Monte Carlo SS.
Exterior Body style : The monet carlo ss has a better body style than the previous generations.
Acceleration : The 2006 Monte Carlo SS's acceleration is extremely quick. The Monte is a very fast car w/ a very powerful engine. Personally I would say that the Monte Carlo is overlooked easily .
If anybody else has any other thoughts about the monte carlo just drop a line.

I think the new Monte Carlo SS share almost everything with Pontiac Gran Prix. Anyway, the Gran Prix has same engine and hp, but very minimal torque steer, GM achieves this by using bigger and fatter tires up front.
I am sure the SS has the same setup.
I am sure the SS has the same setup.

why do you keep starting threads about this car? and why do you pretend to own a 3rd gen TL, when you don't? and why are you calling me favio, who the fuck is favio?
this will be the third thread on this car that has been locked up. and the 2nd thread locked up is still on the first page. and in that thread you said you weren't going to get the SS.

The monte may not be as luxurious as the acura, but it does have raw power. Before you say anything the only car that the acura has that has really impressive power is the TL and NSX, but I would easily pick a Monte over the TL as for power, speed, and acceleration regardless of what the experts say... it all comes down to the drivers skill and timing. I would also say the NSX is faster than the Monte. Like I said before the 96' monte is very very quick. So I pick the monte over the TL in acceleration, power. As for the the Monte against the tsx... well the tsx in my eyes is a joke.... sorry. I like Acura alot ! believe me I do I am just stating my opinion. Go up against a 06' Monte SS and see how big you are, and I am talking about bone stock. As for the last reason why I the Chevy is better than the Acura is because honda is the same as acura, and hondas suck. Hope not to offend anyone it is just opinions and I will always be a Acura TL/RL/CL/TSX fan and Chevy Monte Carlo SS/Impala SS fan forever.:
then you pull out your e-penis and challenge me to a race somewhere in middle america.

Actually if I remember reading right the V8 Imapla and Monte SS don't use wider fronts, only the Grand Prix. But I may be wrong.
And the Grand Prix's tires were specially designed for that particular set-up. Kinda limits your selection when its time to replace tires.

So I guess you can experiment with tires but bridgestone apparently developed a tire solely for this application.
Pontiac's solution to these two inherent front-drive directional control problems—understeer and torque steer—is unique. Instead of four tires of equal size, the GXP has a lot more rubber up front than at the rear: Bridgestone Potenza RE050As, 255/45-18 front, 225/50-18 rear.
This is a radical departure from conventional wisdom, and the idea proved out in initial testing. But there was a nasty side effect: Increasing the contact patch at the front amplified torque steer. However, after experimenting with a number of different tires from a variety of manufacturers, Minch and company decided the problem lay in the tire's construction-the way the plies were wrapped-and not the footprint. With sufficient application of power, the tire sidewalls distort, thus affecting directional stability.
Bridgestone, the supplier of choice, was initially reluctant to accept this theory, but when the GXP team achieved improved results using an off-the-shelf tire from another maker, the Bridgestone people got to work and developed a tire that delivered the desired performance.

Gm has always been pretty good at getting torque steer to a minimum in the higher HP applications. Ive never seen it in any of my dads northstar equiped caddies or his aurora

I have to wonder if other manf's have the same sort of pull with tire manf's. GM could have went with another tire supplier but instead had Brigestone build them a tire. Makes me wonder if cars like the Maxima and TL could have less or no tq steer.

Well, a lot of manufacturers have tires that are specifically built for the application, the Z06 is one that comes to mind and the Porsche "N" tires. However, no one has a problem switching to another brand.

I was wondering what you guys thought about the supercharger on the TL . I personally think the TL w/ the supercharger would make a beast , I mean you don't see a TL w/ 335 + horsepower ever day . And one more quick question does anybody have the 1/4 mile times for a 2004 Acura TL ?
List of mods within next year:
1. A-Spec front lower lip and back lower lip with sides
2. Supercharger
3. Mirrored tinting

oh my goodness.....why u asked again, the debate is over and it's locked already
if u think the 150hp, 3.1 V6 monte carlo is quick enough, then why u want the 5.3 V8, 303hp SS???
you can get a new civic with 140hp that is as quick as ur 150hp monte

As for the Monte SS, I would never buy one, but would race the NASCAR version over the Fusion or Intrepid/Charger. Cant beat a small-block Chevy.
