2005 ES330...new?

Is it just me or is Lexus advertising their ass off about the ALL NEW LEXUS ES 330!! What's new? There is nothing different aside from a sport to luxury spring adjuster. Seriously, I think that's it. Is it just me or is Lexus playing catch up to the TL. Lexus just darkened some pics and played with them on ads to make it look different. This kinda pisses me off.

Just more marketing crap. Their "sport/luxury" spring thing is nothing new either. The older ES had it.

Yeah they do. If their steering wasn't so numb and uncommunicative, I'd like the ES.

The 2005 actually is a little different. It has 17" rims standard, new headlights, fog lights, tail lights, grill and trunk trim. The interior is a little different and you can now get air conditioned/cooled seats. It does not feel as old fart as the 2004, but I still perfer the TL to it. The ones I've driven have not had the "sport" springs.

lol the ES... they still make it to look exactly like a camry. Last generation ES300s looked EXACTLY like a camry, take off the badges and you couldnt tell the difference.

The ES is really disappointing.
I went to the GM test drive even in which they brought in "competitor" cars for you to compare with GM cars. In the luxury car division, here is the line up:

Cadillac CTS
Audi A4 3.0
BMW 325i
Lexus ES300
Saab 9-5

I test drove all of them and OMG, the Lexus just handles like a piece of big stinky poop compare to the rest of them. I guess it is not quite fair to compare Lexus with the rest, which are all consider performance sedans. Lexus is comfortable, but when you drive it hard, I was really reall scared that I will lose control of it.

The ES330 is NOT meant to be a canyon carver.

If you wanted a smooth, quiet and relaxed cruiser for the highway... would you pick the ES? probably, thats what it is meant for A great car for certain purposes.

I have seen a few commercials for lexus vehicles, they never seem to mention performance or handling, i think their focus group is older Cadi lovin gen. The new ES is sucha waste of space thou, the gearbox is so slow, but smooth, it takes ever to shift between gears. And on top of that the exterior shoots for something that it cant achive. Dont get me wrong i love the new LS430, but i guess the ES is trying way to hard to keep up with its older brother.

FYI to all: Though it isnt quite like the TL, the ES330 isnt exactly hurting for sales. With the wide majority of ES buyers being women (conversely, men with the TL), IMO both the TL and ES are focused towards two different types of buyers.

My wife likes the ES330 WAY more than the TL but, (between the two) I like the TL much more.

I think my folks might trade in their 2000 Volvo S70 for a new ES330. I am trying to convince them to go with a LS430 but I think my dad is afraid my mom can't drive such a big car (and I don't blame him) Definitely going after a different clientelle than a TL or other 'performance' sedan.

If Lexus was like Acura making everything Standard, they would be in good shape.. Always Options, Options and more Options. Love Acura, Every Standard besides Navi and little minor stuff.

Maybe they should test-drive a few more times with LS430, it's not that bad to handle or drive...

The new ES also has memory seats on the driver's and passenger's side seat.

The LS is very easy to drive. I personally don't like bigger cars (the TL being about the largest I can deal with) and the LS didn't bug me at all. Easy to park and handle.

You must be born 3 years ago. No one is paying catch up to the TL. The TL is still a good car. The ES has some refinements for it's usual 3 year refreshning.

The ES and Camry look nothing alike. I think the ES is just ugly, so ugly, it looks like no other car.

Unless you have stats to back it up, the TL and ES are bought by an equal amount of male and female buyers. And yes, no matter what it looks like, it still sells like hotcakes. For the past 12 years, people know ES stands for luxury and reliability and a comfy, quiet ride.

Acura is the one getting in good shape. Lexus has been the top selling luxury brand the past 4 years.
Understand not EVERYONE wants bluetooth (or knows how to use it lol), not everyone wants a bunch of features they just won't use. There are those that don't want sunroofs.

Options are options, they give you the flexibility to make choices. Acura gives you none pretty much. Take it or leave it. Not a bad strategy, IMO.
