2004 Lemon List

The 2004 Lemon List

Thanks to the efforts of the Center for Auto Safety, we are able to provide you with the vehicle complaints on file with the National Highway for Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Each year, thousands of Americans call their government to register complaints about their vehicles. The federal government collects this information but has never released it to the general public. The complaint index is based on a ratio of the number of complaints for each vehicle to the sales of that vehicle.

Code:
MODEL COMPLAINT INDEX RATIO
Subaru Impreza 27,952
Infiniti I35 21,372

So basically ALL acura's besides the TSX and the old RL are lemons... funny. Not suprising though after seeing the build quality of my CLS.

Hopefully Honda gets back on their horse and fixes Acura's rep.

It says it's a ratio, is that of problems per cars sold? then some of those numbers aren't as bad as they seem for some of the cars.

And impressed that neither Hyundai, nor Kia (often bagged on for being the shittiest cars) made it on the list. Granted, they're the same company, but still, two different brands with full line-ups.

I'm not. Or BMW. I know lots of BMW and MB owners. Some (mainly older people for MB) but they all seem to not have many issues. Or if they do it's not a serious design flaw, it's just a fix.

Dont pick up the latest consumer reports then

well heres the odd thing. I just read the lastest consumer reports and they recommand the Audi A4 saying that audi has improved reliablity since 02.

I didnt read more into the other cars but just thought that was werid. I wonder where this Lemon list came from and if its legit.

I wonder if there is some spill over from 2003 in this list??? Like the TL for example??? I haven't heard many grumblings about the transmission in the '04s... Wonder if it was a lemon exercised in '04, yet the car was an '03???

The I35 sort of surprises me, seeing as its arguably in its final year of a 5 model year production run (if you include the 00-01 I30).
