1990 Legend sitting garaged for 3 years

I am acquiring my mom's 1990 legend that has been sitting for 3 years. Anyone know of a resource guide for returning this auto to the road?

Was anything done prior to the sitting, or no?

I can't really help, but think that's a factor.

No, she got another car and parked this one. It was in good working order when parked.

Acyually, she lives alone and loves the car and thought she would drive it again one day. I'm giving up a company car and am planning on driving it if possible.

I would change ALL of the fluids. Then I'd watch for leaks. Gaskets tend to go bad when a vehicle sits like that. It's really not good for the car unless you drain ALL of the fluids completely out before storing it.

If I had a nickel for everytime I've read that statement in a forsale ad, I'd have alot of nickels...

Change all fluids... Oil and gas in partiular... Gas turns to varnish so you don't want to run that thru the fuel injection system. Of course the fuel injection has old gas in it already, but you don't want to compound the problem.

Some people will just charge the battery and see if it'll fire up, but if you are going to be driving the car (verses selling it), you'll probably want to be more proactive in maintenance...

Check the coolant, charge the battery... brake fluid might need changing, but I've seen cars that have been sitting for 10 years fire up with only new gas....

Check all the rubber parts as well, they might have dried up.

Tires, hoses etc.

what everyone else said, also check the tires for cracks, a car sitting on its tires for long periods of time may need to be replaced

Check for missing wires that may have been consumed by mice.
