Do they also come with 6MT? If so, I wonder how fast they are.

It got smaller? This thing looked pretty big in person...maybe I'm just underestimating the current Maxima's size then.

Pretty quick....1/4 mile could probably be dropped down to the low 14's with a better launch seems kind of high considering all other factors

...its still ugly as shit from the front though.

<-------longtime Maxima fan except for current gen

I like it. The shape hearkens back to the 4DSC (4 door sports car) shape of the 90's. MUCH better-looking than the current gen Maxima.

Good on Nissan!

yea that's true, and with the new CVT I'd imagine it to be a bit faster too.

various reasons.

some might want a bigger car. or perhaps you can get a loaded maxima for a price similar to a base G35. etc etc etc.

believe it or not, there are people that would prefer a fully loaded camry instead of a base IS.

has pricing been released for the new maxima?

well the new maxima isn't that much bigger than the G35 while the camry is a lot bigger than the IS. i think the IS is just a little bigger than the Scion TC.

i actually would rather get a G35 than an 09 Maxima too. Maxima hasn't really been JDM since 2003

maybe the IS was a bad example, but i know several families that opted for a loaded camry instead of a base ES350 because of pricing.

but still, i'm just saying there are various reasons why someone would opt for a maxima instead of a base G35.

because you can get a panoramic roof and cooled seats and better mpg in the maxima where the G doesnt have that. and some prefer FWD over RWD

yeah, but you can get a G35 in AWD, so that FWD over RWD logic isn't sound either.

...and in all likelihood, the Nissan dealer will be quicker to discount on the Maxima than the Infiniti dealer with the G35.

I am one of those buyers who is more inclined to buy a Maxima (or Accord V6/Camry V6) over a G35 (or TL/ES), as the flash of an upscale brand does not appeal to me as much as value.

I'm on my second "Maxima" now. Good cars. I like the look of this one more than the current model.

The 09 model is a good looking car, unlike the current generation Maxima.

Oh...except for the "notch" in the headlights. What makes a designer do that kind of stupid crap?

^I agree, it looks more upscale now, but I can't stand the "tear"...at 14.5@98mph, I guess that makes it as fast as the current TL-S 5AT and the Altima V6?

On the bright side, you can't mistake those headlights for anything else but an 09 Maxima when you see it on the road. Guess that's what Nissan wanted.

lol that's true.

I can't decide whether the power plenum grille is uglier or the notch/tear...

They look like they'd be hard to clean though.

The 09 Maxima looks like it could really be a viable alternative to the, POTENTIALLY ugly, 09 TL.

I think the Maxima is ugly. Hopefully the TL will be better looking than the TSX.

IMO the butt is still kind of too short .... like being chopped off with a butcher knife .....

Pretty close to IS250/350's rear situation .... I won't go for it & that's why I chose a TL ...
