3G TL: CarPC with all wiring, touchscreen controller, video converter, dvd player
Category: Audio/Video/Electronics
Price: $300
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): TL 3G
Location (State/Prov/Terr): PA
Item Condition: Used
This was taken out of my 2006 TL when I sold it. This will install into your TL with navigation and allow you to retain the full functionality of your stock navigation system and then allow you to switch the video and touchscreen input to the PC for audio, video, dvd, internet, etc. The PC currently runs a slimmed down version of Windows XP to run smoothly on the TL's navigation screen. The price is $300 shipped to the lower 48.
The following items are included:
Voom PC enclosure with mini ITX motherboard, 1.7Ghz, 80gb HHD, 512MB ram, wifi card, with Windows XP installed
ScanDo 800 scan converter to convert the VGA output from the PC into RGBS signal that the stock navigation screen expects.
Blitzsafe HON/AUX DMX V.2X for aux audio input
USB touch screen controller with custom relay and wiring to switch between stock touchscreen input and carpc touch input.
Slim slot loading cd/dvd-rw drive in slim usb enclosure
2x USB hubs, one for the front "cubby" area above dvd drive, a 2nd for under the armrest console.
Custom relay that installs in trunk near stock DVD navigation to switch the video input between stock display and carpc display
mini usb keyboard
usb extension cables
usb bluetooth adapter, 30 meter range
wiring to tap into fusebox, audio cables from blitzsafe to carpc, misc power wiring for relays.
The VoomPC enclosure has some scratches on it from being installed in my trunk and one or more of the clips that hold the black plastic cover in place have broken off. Just want to provide full disclosure so there are no surprises. This obviously doesn't affect the functionality of the PC.

Here is my original Acurazine post on the installation. Unfortunately I canceled the webhosting where the pictures were originally hosted, so I'll try to post as many as I can here. CarPC installed into 3G TL with Navigation
Post at Mp3car.com about my install
To whoever purchases the setup, I will label all of the loose wires and provide a description of each of the components. This will require you to have some electrical knowledge and know-how. You will be pulling out the entire navigation screen to tap into the touch controller and get to the back of the radio to install the Blitzsafe adapter (for aux audio input). If you decide to add a USB GPS antenna you will need to remove the rear deck and install next to the stock subwoofer and rear speakers. I will provide as much assistance as I can, but I have a full-time job and 2 kids, so my time will be limited beyond the writeup I provide.
Here is some additional detailed info that I had provided to a forum member several years ago who was interested in my install.
Motherboard - Versa C7 1.5ghz mini-itx
RAM - 512mb
Enclosure - Voom pc enclosure
Power supply - M2-ATX
Hard drive - 2.5" 80GB, 7200rpm
laptop 2.5" to desktop 3.5" IDE harddrive adapter
Cd/dvd drive - slim laptop cd drive, slot loading
Extra case fan - 40mm fan.
Type A Usb extension cables. You'll need 3 total. One will run from the trunk to the cd drive which will be mounted in front of the shifter (at least 12 feet long), 2nd goes from trunk to a powered usb hub which will be hidden under the center armrest (at least 8 feet), 3rd goes from powered usb hub to another usb hub that is located with the cd drive.
2 small 5v powered usb hubs. I'm using 2. One is stored under the armrest because I have a usb cable for my cell phone that runs to there for charging and internet (pdanet), and the other one is located in the front storage bin with the cd/dvd drive. This one is to plugin various devices, bluetooth adapter, keyboard, thumb drive.
small USB keyboard (if desired) - I picked up one from GameStop that was intended for an xbox.
USB GPS antenna - I used a holux brand that I ordered from ebay a few years ago. This gets mounted under the rear deck next to the subwoofer. The smaller footprint the better.
Scan converter - either the Scan Do 800 or Scan Do 1024.
Slim enclosure for laptop cd drive - http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-2-0-Slim-Enclosure-for-laptop-CDROM-DVD-Burner-R06_W0QQitemZ130079550117QQihZ003QQcategoryZ38116QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Aux Audio input - Blitzsafe HON/AUX DMX V.2X
Audio cable - 1/8" mini stereo to RCA cable. At least 12 feet. This is for audio from the motherboard to the blitzsafe

Would you be able to run the Honda FlashPro on this screen if you installed it onto the CarPuter? Would be a really awesome feature to have if you could implement it right into the cars screen.
