Ahhhhh the 70’s… the decade where the first Star Wars movie was released, where afro haircuts where all the rage, and where the first digital camera came into existence. Yep, you read that right! In 1975, Kodak released the world’s first digital camera prototype, a clunky-looking device that used casette tapes as the medium to store pictures. Each photo took 23 seconds to snap, producing a 100-line black and white image that could only be displayed on a television set. No wonder why it never became popular.

It has gone on to become a very rare and sought after underground/cult item.

<--- dating himself (this isn't a D&R or Ramblings post, so no "I'll bet you're dating yourself" comments).

Yup. Had a PET, too.

I believe that topped out at 800x600.

I've got the DC25. High res was 493x373 and it could only hold 14 shots at that resolution. Standard resolution was good for 30 shots, but they were about the size of your avatar

I think it still works, so I'll try to fire it up today. I believe it takes the old film-body lithium batteries, so I'll hunt around for a pair and see if I can figure out how to. I think the biggest trick will be trying to find a small enough flash card. I believe the max it can recognize is 4MB (not GB!) and that holds something like 400 shots.

If I can't find a card, I'd have to use the internal memory, then find a way of accessing the files directly. Somehow I doubt they've released Vista drivers...
