It's CNet, so I don't trust much of the reviews, but....

My concerns stem from their reviews of non-camera items, but standards are standards....
In researching HDTVs for a long time, I have found that CNET consistently favors certain brands like Sony, regardless of TV quality. CNET Reviewers have even said (in non CNet forums), that when they are at CNET, they get cherry picked models, calibrated by factory technicians to review. This is in contrast to how Consumer Reports acquires all test items, they go to a store and buy off the shelf.
As a consumer, the later approach gives me a much better idea of the quality and quality control I can expect from my purchase.
If one out of fifty of the new XSI bodies gives a weird error message, and Canon knows about it, you can bet they will test the heck out of 100 or so, find the one that works best, and send that one to CNET for review. When I go to the store to purchase, I may get one that has had much less QC,and therefore have a very different buying experience than CNET led me to believe I would.

I find this quite interesting, the f50 got quite a bit a flack for screwing up the low noise characteristics that were praised with the f30 and f40. So this camera cuts the resolution and gives sensitivity back? I kinda wonder if you can run around with it at 6mp all the time and get smoother low iso pictures aswell. I can't really think of any need for a 12 mega pixel compact point of shoot anyway. Guess I'll have to wait for dpreview to review it to see what is possible with the controls given.

Looks like there is some doubt whether this will really happen but Sigma is saying "The worldwide debut, soon" so I think it's probably going to happen!

Sigma teases again with its full-spec DP1 compact camera

We understand that many of you have relinquished hope of seeing Sigma's compact DP1 with DSLR-sized (APS-C not full-frame) sensor. For the rest of you, take note, Sigma just sprouted a new teaser page promising, "The worldwide debut, soon." For all of Sigma's claims that the DP1 is "a camera that belongs to no known category," we'll be sure to toss it under the "vaporware" tag if we don't see it say, PMA-soon as in tomorrow.
