Paris/Versailles
Paris/Versailles
Just got back this afternoon from spending a week in Paris. Loved every bit of it.
Honestly, if it wasn't for the cost of living, I'd probably be looking for a job over there after graduation.
Very cool city/area.
Had a little bit of a mishap.
A couple actually.
Third day in after about half of my battery was drained, I realized that I left my charger at home.

Not too bad though, yea? I figure I just be careful with my shots, and not do to much checking with the screen to make sure I got the framing and whatnot how I wanted. To make a long story short, I spent two separate days (part of those days, anyways) looking for a charger. First day it was night after we had finished up all we had wanted to see. Couldn't find it.
Second day, turns out all the camera stores were closed. On Monday.
Worked out ok though. Ended the trip with the camera constantly reminding me that I only had one bar of life left but it lasted.
Second mishap was even more maddening (to me).
I was in St. Eustache taking a few pictures. I'm going to slide my camera back into my bag when I here a bit of a thud in the bottom of my case before I put my camera all the way in.....
The whole front element of my lens had popped out....

I freaked.
Turns out it basically screws in/out. Still frustrated though. I'm just glad it didn't happen 2 seconds earlier when it was over a stone floor. Should I have a shop look at it to make sure there isn't any dust/dirt/etc in between the very front element and the 2nd one, now? I did my best to check, but I'm not a pro or a serviceman either.
As far as my outdoor pics, I did some practice getting multiple exposures for HDR's. My main reasoning was because the first half of the week we were there, it was predominately cloudy and dreary and was making for some really flat pics (at least with my skills...
) and thought it would be prime setting for HDR's.
Enough of the banter.
On to some of the more favorite of my pics.
Notre Dame

Palace of Versailles

Eiffel Tower (duh....)

St. Chapelle

Looking out from Sacre Couer
This one surprised me. Alot. This shot I did multiple exposures thinking of doing an HDR, but once I saw just the single correct exposure, I didn't even bother. Loved how this one turned out.

Sacre Couer

In the Montmartre area not too far from Sacre Couer

Just a random church while walking down one of the little streets/alleys

One of the ceilings in The Louvre

At the Rodin Museum

Ceiling/Dome at Napoleon's Tomb

This one still makes me
with the nose and mustache...

Thanks

I've love the 18-200.
Thanks drigo
I was pleasantly surprised when after the first 2-3 days it was pretty good weather for the rest of the trip. The forecast originally showed rain for the whole time we would've been there, but it cooperated. There were little rain spurts here and there sometimes, but for the most part it was nice.
And yea, I have a few of St. Eustache....

Incredible pics. Brought back a lot of memories for me. I went to a trade show in Paris a few years back. My girlfriend met me there after the trade show and we spent 5 days enjoying the city.
