Thanks guys...
Sho_nuff: they let people on the tarmac and pit area before the race..they parade the cars and introduce the drivers...so it's a great chance to get up close..you can also get a garage pass for I think $35 to get access to the garage area..it's pretty cool to get since you get to go in there and watch them work on cars all day and night...
IS300: for the panning shots I used a 70-200 f/2.8

No, no, I live 2 hrs. down I-4 from Daytona. These last few days have been perfect, with the temps and low humidity, which makes the outdoor shots much crisper....the proof shows in your photos.
thanks stogie!
lol...any of you local guys up there going to the indy race in bmore coming up in august?
thanks..we've had great weather up here in jax too so i knew it was gonna be even warmer south..you should've gone to the race...

haven't thought of that...i did see a bunch of "aerial" view prints they were selling in the souvenir shop..looked like they were shot from a blimp or something..
thanks..i know what you mean about that tower...i thought about going to the upper corner end of the track to get that angle but there was so much to shoot and a lot of walking..i ran out of daylight time...
I know the 70-200 isn't exactly the heaviest lens out there, but it ain't lite either... did you use a monopod for the panning shots?

confused how you did it vertically?
Turned camera 'sideways' into vertical orientation and took 10 pictures as he panned.
