The Official Camera Deals Thread

Maybe we could sticky this?

Just a place to list deals we come across online.

This one isnt anything great. Maybe something decent for newbies to build their arsenal with:

http://www.techbargains.com/news_displayItem.cfm/137971

Canon EF 28-55 for $50 from Adorama.

Great idea for a sticky thread. Here's one, not the best or newest, but it's a good starter hobbyist flash for the Canon folks, around $230 shipped:

http://sigma4less.com/Product.aspx?ProdID=2023

Clearing the old stock out for the 430EX MkII's? If anything they should make decent slave units for later...

Amazon's also currently got it for $233 shipped.

FYI that is the 430 EX I. It has been replaced by the EX II, which claims to have a 20% faster cycle time. Not sure how long the II has been out, but I bought my camera gear about a year ago and got the II.

^^ for DSLR selling at $430 is a deal.

I know they are the basic SLR camera, but that is way better than some of those sony junk P&S that is going for $500, IMO.

Does anyone know if the $2700 (new) D700's on Amazon are legit? They come with free shipping too, and for $200 less then going to Samy's I could get a Lensbaby too.

I have been looking at this, it is being sold by amazon.com, not a 3rd party. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it, if you want it. I have purchased two cameras from them w/o problems, and many lenses. They have a 30day return policy.

i'm still patiently waiting for the 5dmkI used prices to plummet.

I'm hoping MS live is still giving 20-30% off ebay when it does. For now, it seems like you can find one for around $1500 on ebay, and I think the live search maxes out at $200? and wait like 3 months for your cashback.

I got $176 back from MS live a few weeks ago for a few purchases I made back in July. Not a bad deal, but it goes back in your paypal account, which for me has a inexplicable urge to get spent .

I wouldn't be able to buy it until spring anyways, but I hope they still have the same deals then.

just an fyi on butterfly photo. I have ordered from them in the past, and they do that whole call to confirm thing. They call and offer you accessories, 'expedited shipping', warranty, and stuff.

I just declined everything and I got my camera and everything that was supposed to come with it. But I've heard of problems if it is out of stock, and delays in shipping. Some people really hate being 'upsold' on accessories. Definitely not a flat out scam like some other stores, but not an A++++ in my book. not sure i'd order from them again.

Looking at them via resellerratings.com. I wouldn't order from them. Also now knowing they're a upseller, no way.

after some pretty extensive research and great advice from some folks here (thanks Jupitersolo!), I just purchased a 50D a 24-105L, 35m 2.0 and an extra battery from Amazon...great price, free shipping and received all within 2 weeks plus their return policy is one of the best on the net (ive used it before on an HDTV with zero problems)...

I've used them in the past a couple of times. First time was completely smooth. No issues whatsoever.

The other time they called to confirm and then started the upselling. After declining the first few offers and they kept going, I started getting frustrated. I flat out said "If you don't want to sell me JUST the camera then just cancel the order." They backed off and the camera came quick and in good condition.

That siad, I don't think I'll ever use them again.

is it still limited to 3 items? I used it twice in June/July...does this mean I can only use it one more time?

*edit* looked it up:
changed it months ago to 6 transactions with a max rebate of $200 per transactions.

amazon is having 20% off a ton of lowepro bags through 10/18/08

Use promo code: H23VD4OF at checkout

not sure if that link is working?

I'm thinking of trying out a fastpack 250, and compare it to my slingshot 200

I wonder if it would be better to buy a D700 + lens, or get a used HVX instead? I would get more use out of the D700, but since I want to be a cam-op a HVX would be good too =/. I dunno, they would be about the same price too.

and they show picture of the 5D2 with 24-105, yet that's not one of the options listed. I'm guessing they spent a whole 5 minutes coming up with these deals.

they have the 24-105 there because it comes with one of the 5DmkII kits that you can buy and is eligible for the extra savings......
