Need to replace my Canon Powershot S3 IS (again)
Hey AZ family, I once again turn to you for advice regarding a camera.
My second S3 IS died today. I took my 3-year-old son to the circus, his first time. I made the dreadful error of placing the camera on the floor. I didn't know that there was a hole through the bleacher. My wife hit the camera accidentally and it fell about 15 feet to hard concrete. Camera is dead.
I can't live without a camera! Must have camera to take pix of son and CTS-V (in that order)
So I'm back in the market. I'm looking for something similar to the S3 IS, a similar advanced point and shoot that can do video at 60 fps like the S3 IS, and for that video to have decent sound quality. I haven't started doing much research as between my two S3 ISs, I have been out of the camera market for several years.
So post up your favorite choices. Extra points if the camera has a SLR-like shape, but that is not an absolute requirement.
.....or should I just move up to an DSLR? Is there one that does short video clips as well?
TYVM in advance.

I erred above in video fps. I meant 30 fps. Sorry!

Canon G11? I came close to buying a G9 a coupla years ago but chose to save $$ and buy a second S3 IS again. Sticking with Canon at least allows me to use a familiar user interface.

The G11 would be a good choice. A used G9 would be good as well. Don't mess with the G10 if you find one, Canon put too many MP (14) in it and lower it to 10MP with the release of the G11. Also Canon S90 would be on to look at as well. The SX20IS will be the newest body closest to the S3.
Then there's the SX1 IS, which is Canon's only P&S that has a dSLR type sensor in it, CMOS.
I would suggest going to amazon.com and reading the comments for the cameras I mentioned.

Too bad the seller already had a pending sale by the time I asked about it. I bought a G11 for evaluation in the field. I also played somewhat with the S90. The S90 is a fabulous pocketable machine and if I don't like the G11 that will be my ultmate choice. Will also look at the Panny LX3 before settling on a final choice. In looking around I was also impressed with the DSLRs available at or not far above what the G11 costs.

Sorry about your camera. I can relate, having tossed a 24-105L off a cliff in WV about a year ago.
Let us know how you end up liking the G11...I keep batting around the idea of something more portable for those occasions when lugging the DSLR just isn't practical.

The G11 is a sweet little camera. It and it's brother, the S90, have been getting fantastic reviews lately. I wish I could get that sensor in an SX20.
