My first real shoot

So I landed a shoot for a model/promoter that has some new clothing she's been sent. It's automotive type clothing that she'll be modelling for the company (Think booty shorts, halter top, Hot Import Nights type clothing).
I have a large shop lined up at my buddies shop with some overhead Fluorescent lighting. I'll be setting up some large backdrops to get rid of any clutter and have a few nice BMW's lined up for her to pose/model on. I'll have my 30D with a bunch of different lenses, AB800 flash with brolly box, gold and white/silver umbrellas.

Basically I'm looking for any tips on things to watch out for. Different mods of shooting? I like to shoot mainly in Tv or Ap mode. Have not messed around with Adep yet. This is my first "big" shoot. There's no charge involved. I'm doing it for the exposure as if they shots are chosen, they'll be posted on a ton of sites with my name listed as the photographer. I'm comfortable going into the shoot, but want to get the best shots possible.

Thanks,
James

Congrats on landing a gig!

How are you triggering the Alien Bee? Do you just have the one light?

You won't be using ADEP, just full manual.

You mentioned that you'll have fluorescents overhead; they are probably the hardest light source to balance with. Every tube is different and cycling on and off at 60hz. If you shoot at a shutter speed faster than 1/60th, you'll likely get inconsistent light. You'll want to get some sheets of CTO Green gels to balance your flash to the fluorescents.

There are some great tutorials on the web for helping you with lighting and posing. Here's one for lighting: http://www.studiolighting.net/studio...ing-tutorials/

Make sure you practice your butt off before the shoot because you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Good luck!

I have a sync cord for the AB. I thought about picking up a wireless controller for the hotshoe, but I'd like to be able to use the 430 flash I have on camera also. Maybe with some gels or overlays.
Thanks for the tips on the gels. I'll check them out. I'll definitely be practicing in my garage. I have some Fl lighting out there that is similiar to the shop.
