In The Market For A Camera...Need Suggestions
Hey everybody,
I'm looking for a camera and I was wondering if you experts could suggest a good one for me.
I'm really not that picky on a brand, I just have a few features that I'm looking for:
--- I want a small, reliable camera that I can just throw in my pocket and walk around comfortably. This is the main characteristic I'm looking for.
--- I don't need anything special as far a clarity goes, just a clear picture.
--- I don't want to spend more than $300 - $350.
--- If there are any packages that combine a camera and printer that will print nice pictures, that would be nice also, but the printer isn't a necessity. However, I would be willing to spend more for the package.
I'm not going to be doing any major picture taking, just a few pictures here and there when I go on trips this summer.
If you could suggest a make and/or model that you think would be a good fit for me that would be great. I don't know too much about cameras but I'm not clueless, but I figured I would ask the experts.
Thanks a lot

I would rather spend the money on the camera (or save it) than buy a photo printer. I think it generally costs more money to print them yourself than to get them done at CVS or snapfish, etc. IMO you don't need it. I also heard that the pictures fade faster and just don't come out as nice.

The SD 800 seems like a nice camera after reading about it. Do you think this is a good deal? $296 from Dell with free shipping...

Wow, I've never heard that before. I'll definitely research it more before I decide to buy anything, but thanks for the heads up.
i've got the 800IS, and i would defininitely recommend it. i'm no camera expert by any means either, but it's a great little camera and takes some fantastice pictures.
just saw the canon 750 today, and it does look cool. the 3" screen is very nice.

Unless it's a real top of the line. Photo printers have always been poor. I purchased an Epson Photomate, used it a couple of times, OK picture to give away but not for something I want to keep. The next time I used it pictures were coming out with a green tint. I haven't used it since.
Epson now has something called HD photo printer. But not sure if I'll try it.
For what you have to pay in ink and paper, I think it's better just getting them done locally for .29 or so. But there are many places on line to do it as well. Put your money into a GOOD camera.
So after a lot of research, I ended up going with the Canon SD750 instead of the SD800.
I really liked the 3" LCD screen and the fact that I saved about $50, among other things. I realized the SD750 was plenty of camera for what I needed.
As soon as I get it and get everything set up I'll snap some pics and post 'em on here.
Thanks again for everyone's help. It is greatly appreciated.
