Looking for input/experience/help w/camera purchase $250 range

I'm looking at buying a new digital camera in the $200 to $250 range. I don't need anything great but something good is a must. I'm just looking to take regular pictures of stuff...friends, family, stuff to sell on ebay, etc. Really looking for something that I can just point and shoot, and will come out looking great. I don't know if I'd have the patience to adjust a bunch of effects to make the pictures come out perfect. Is there anything you guys can recommend?

Looking at Best Buy and they seem to have a lot in the price range, but I don't know what is recommended.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

FWIW,
I have a Canon SD630 for a P&S that I really like. It takes good pictures in all different kinds of lighting. It isnt really available anymore and had been replaced with the Canon SD750 which is a similar featured camera.

Buy it from amazon.com or bhphoto.com and save yourself some money and taxes, you'll be able to get more camera. Take a look at those two websites and see what others have to say about any camera you'd like to get.

For $250 I suggest Canon PowerShot SD850 IS for another $50 more the SD870IS or for less the Canon A720IS.

You cant go wrong with any of those cameras. The Cybershot is nice, but I would get the SD850... You can get one for around $250 online.

They do have a silver face version, although walmart currently doesn't list it.

After contacting Pentax, I found out that this camera is exclusive to Walmart and you can't find it anywhere else (excluding ebay of course).

So I stand corrected

A basic budget ultracompact, the 10-megapixel S10 incorporates an f2.8-5.4 38mm-114mm-equivalent 3x zoom lens and 2.5-inch LCD. At 2.1 inches by 3.4 inches by 0.8 inch and weighing a mere 4.6 ounces, the S10 fits comfortably in a pants pocket. The all-metal body feels generally well made (though the mode/down button on our evaluation unit tended to stick annoyingly) and comes in two versions: a dark-gray-and-silver mass-market model and a blue-and-silver style sold only through Wal-Mart.
Now I'm confused because pentax told me this model is only available at walmart.

I found the silver one at this shop, but I don't know how credible they are:

Holy crap this is a cheap price!!! $180 for the Pentax Optio SV and they have only 1 left!!!

http://www.amazon.com/Pentax-SV-Digi...401827&sr=1-22

I currently own this camera and I have been very happy with it.

Examples of some of the pictures I've taken with this camera:

I've been using a Sony Cybershot camera since 2003.
A P-8 model.

Had it for almost 5 years now, dropped it several times but still takes great pictures!

Didn't need to, but picked myself up a new Cybershot camera
as my Christmas present to myself & am pretty satisfied so far

Unless you have a gift card or a crazy coupon,
I'm pretty sure Amazon.com is one of the cheapest places to get a camera.

I spent a whole Oct & Dec, deciding which P&S camera to get, not just a Sony,
but all brands, and Amazon.com was almost always the cheapest.
