took this this morning at Stanley Park

I took this last weekend on a trip to Bermuda. It was so nice over there. Anyways, this was from three different exposures, -2, 0, and +2
This is the same picture, but only using one RAW file at no exposure compensation as the sole source image.
They basically look the same, except I kicked up the saturation a little but more on the single photo, since it didn't have quite the range. It's a little crisper than the three merged one (didn't use a tripod), but the merged version has a smoother look. it's kind of hard to tell with the smaller pics, but easier to tell as a background

I gave it a shot but went a different way

I did +1,+2,-1,-2 in LR@ with cloning. Brought all five images into CS4. But only used three images to make a 32bit HDR document. Can't remember which three, I think it was 0,-1 and -2. Saved the file as a .hdr. Opened in PMPro, tone mapped there, saved as Tiff, opened with CS4 and made a couple adjustments. Color, contrast, brightness. Saved as 8bit jpeg for upload.

Drifting
pretty similar to my steps...thanks..
i made 3 exposures with LR @ -2,0,+2 then took them into photomatix...afterwards i took it back to LR to adjust a few things...color,brightness,etc...
for some reason i'm only able to do 16bit

The storms coming in as well =)
had to photoshop the couple making out in the rocks if anyone can tell... they really killed the composition.

Needs more Lemon Pledge
How many exposures?
Which program did you use to put the HDR together?

I am just not sure I am seeing any increase in dynamic range over a normal photograph. Standard highlight areas (clouds) are still without detail, as are standard shadow areas. Check with Drigo and Jupiter and a few others for some Photomatix setting that make HDR look like something other a standard photo.
Not suggestion all HDRs need to be "nuclear", but you should benefit in the dynamic range from the use of bracketing.
Nice vehicles BTW!

Its about adjusting i always work from higest to lowest seeing what effects sometimes if im not happy i restart.
I then also fix things up in photoshop and lightroom.

I've been wanting to try out HDR lately and this thread has inspired me to begin. I have a question though...it's my understanding that with HDR you combine three or more exposures, often by bracketing when taking a shot(s). If that's so, how do you take pictures with moving objects and not have blur of the moving objects (people, water, cars, etc.) when you combine the photos since they will have moved in the time between bracketed exposures?

another way is you can manually make one photo into 3 different exposed photos
-2 0 and + 2 exposure compensations and it will work similar.
or you can do your multplie exposure compensation and clone out as much as possible.
Usually i avoid having people in it if their in the far distance i clone them out or fix them.

There wasn't much detail to begin with the trees and grass. This was taken about 30 minutes before I could even see the sun. I had one exposure of the five that even showed that the trees were green, the rest was all black.
