Great shot, as always. I def need to be hitting the streets more but work takes up a bunch of my time.

This one was taken over the summer in the Lakewood Balmoral Historical District right across the street from my apt. The houses in the area are beautiful but cost $1mil+ easily. I thought it was an overly nice garage and warranted a picture A little over the top but Im happy with how it came out.

I like how the grain pops on the green stained trim...

^^^ just realized that was 3 exposures at ISO 1600 on the 5D... I did have to do some noise control in the sky but other than that, processing was not different than the typical ISO 100 HDR's I do.

srika, how do you get the city shots? Are you on roof tops when you take them?

 

 

I've only been on a rooftop once. That was kinda freaky. ( for a shot from there, if you wanna see). And I got there because I had been posting photos on facebook for a while (I mean like maybe 3 yrs) and so people knew I take city photos. So one of my 'acquaintances' contacted me one day and asked whether I wanted to go up on the rooftop at his work and take photos. Of course I said SURE! And that was that. Windows haven't hampered my work too much, sometimes sure if there's been a storm or something recently. But generally speaking the windows in Chicago buildings are cleaned on a periodic basis and I think that helps the photos a lot. Facebook is fun like that, like recently (for the above photo, in fact) I noticed one of my friends had posted a photo from her work, and I liked the view. Knowing her enough to ask, I asked if there was any way she could get me up there, and she responded that she would find out etc. etc. And she did and got me up there, and that was that. Use your resources, you may have more than you know.

thanks, I'm not too pleased about the distortion but if I tried correcting it, too much of the image would be lost. And this is at 10mm. Next time I'll try doing a panoramic stitch, so I can adjust the distortion.
