Hacked Digital Rebel (300d) Firmware
I noticed a few are running the hacked firmware on their Rebels.
Anything you hate about it?
Is the language thing an issue at all?
Installation seems to be a breeze. Any other caveats?

No complaints really. Just make sure you know what the changes are before you load it on because I haven't seen the original firmware anywhere if you want to go back.
The only slightly confusing thing is some of the buttons get remapped, so it takes some getting used to. The AI_SERVO focus mode still doesn't really work. It will track a moving subject with a half press, but if you full press, it won't take the shot. You need to track with a half press, release, then full press to take a shot with AI_SERVO.
It's free, and it unlocks quite a few features, so I can't complain.

So, what does the hacked firmware acheive?

Drifting
Basically you get some of the features the 10d has in software that the 300d doesnt,
Shutter lock up and Flash exposure compensation being the best in my book
Also gives ai servo and 3200 iso (aka "hi") but neither are verry usefull on the digireb. Also there is a whole custom settings thing I've never messed with.
It's verry worth it if those things mean much to you. 10d is still a better upgrade though, with it's processing and metal body and such.
I've been running it for over a year if not two, I don't remember really. But I don't think I could live without it now. Nothing has gone wrong either, well except a button popping off the front of the camera, but i don't think that was the firmware.
