D40 with kit lens. Havent played around with the 15-200 yet, but Ive got a couple months to practice before my upcoming trips. Good excuse to ignore studying for the PCAT.
Plus, Im kinda sick.
I also need to start learning how to process these too.

These arent fantastic or anything, but look how small the Smart car is compared to our Yaris!

I meant 55-200, btw. Its the VR lens so hopefully it will help me to not suck at night shots.
Congrats! If you haven't got it yet get the book Understanding Exposure. You'll be glad you did.
Oh, and I'm curbing my eagerness to quote your previous message without the last word, then add some sort of comment. I'm so bad.

Congrats. I was about to comment on the mysterious 15-200 as well. A good investment is the 18-200 VR. They were expensive and hard to come by a few years ago. Now the pricing has dropped and it's a fantastic travel lens.
I've played around with a few D40's and it's can be hard to use just the 3 points of AF. The frog shot has the focus drawn in right above the frog. As long as you're doing landscapes on your trip, don't worry. But you should try to watch for that... just to ensure you take the shots you intended
