It's a problem that apparently can be solved by sending the camera in for repair to Nikon. Do a search for "d200 banding" in the d200 forums over at dpreview.com or nikonians.org and you'll see a ton of discussion and a few samples.

EDIT: that one guys makes it sound like dreaded "pixel counters" looking to cause panic over the net.

Yes, it looks like pixel counting to me. Not something i would be too worried about.
