Oppinions on Canon Powershot SD300

I've been needing a camera for a long time, and tax returns are coming, that sort of thing.

My grandmother has this camera, and I have spent some time using it, and been pretty impressed, takes good enough shots to print 4x6s in my eyes, and seems to have enough control to take night shots of cars and whatnot.

Just wondering if you guys knew of any outstanding problems with these that I'm not aware of before I really look into getting one.

I'm of the opinion...that the SD300 is a great camera.

But if you're not taking your grandmothers, then you'll find good deals on the SD400...you won't find the 300.

Why not on the 300? Discontinued or something? Or are they just trying to push the next step up more?

Definently discontniued. An SD400 should be about the same price anyway.

Spend a bit more for the SD450, if you can, they are very similar, and differ from 1 megapixel. SD450 has a larger LCD screen, it's worth getting for that alone.

I love my SD300, but at this point I would save up a bit more and step up to the SD550.

The SD400 will be that much cheaper, and personally, I prefer to the SD450...yeah the large screen is nice...but almost too big.

Save the money and put it towards a larger SD card.

Too big and too fragile. Go with the 400.

This probably make me anti trendy, but I've never been a big fan of a large lcd.
I'll take a higher image magnification over a larger LCD any day of the week.

In the end, larger lcds don't have that much benefit, besides draining your batteries faster, and being more fragile. I suppose it's funner to review pictures later with a larger LCD later, but geesh.
