imo, some of them could be cropped a bit tighter.

but a pretty nice job.

what camera settings are you using?

i was having a problem with judgement calls on cropping when i resized them..so i agree that i may/may not have cropped them all in the best.

i was in Av, 3.5-5.6, iso400, ETTL 430exII, i shot a few in manual flash but had troubles getting the right settings.

yeah, myself and i'm sure many others have their logo as a photoshop layer and just put it over their images, changing the opacity of it...

for what you say you want, just make a layer on top of your image, use the marquee or shape tool and create a white stripe...then put your logo, on a new layer, in the center of the stripe and reduce the opacity of both the stripe and logo layers...

fast glass sure is fun. and, I may be flamed for this but, the newer high-ISO cameras (such as 5D2) kind of remind me of the GT-R... doesn't take much effort to get good pics with em. :P lol. seriously put some fast glass on a 5D2, put it into AUTO, and almost anyone (with some basic sense of composition) can take good low-light pics, just by pressing the button.

haha sounds about right...i need to start messing with my ISO to see what the effect really does for the pics..i prob shoulda been at a higher iso than 400 last night, but it didnt even enter my mind honestly. i was having trouble with focusing unless i was close and tight at 18mm (3.5) but even still i was shooting in rear sync mostly, and most people wouldnt pose long enough for the second burst.

furthermore, it bugs me when people get all googly-eyed over the low-light shots made by these newer cameras, when all it is is the high-ISO performance. the 5D1 doesn't do too bad in AUTO mode with the 50 1.4, either.

that being said, I would love to get a newer cam.

True to a point...it still really takes someone who knows what they are doing to make it a great image.

I think they only need to know about composition.. and maybe a little creativity thereof.

the camera does the rest..

Need to know to about light, exposure, angle.

Sure I can walk into a club on program mode and take a decent pic.

But if I walk and know where I have cool backlight, and if I go manual and close down an extra stop, or slow my shutter, etc I can come out with a much better and more interesting image.

Difference between amateurs and pros. And big reason why I get uppity in car talk with everyone calling their pictures "photoshoots" and having custom watermarks.

hmm.. maybe I've just been doing the club stuff for so long that I don't notice those things anymore. Thinking about it some more, I see lots of EXIF's with people shooting D700, 5D2, and D300 (which I put into a similar 'high ISO-next gen' category) in the club and the shots are OK. I don't mean this in a braggy way but I feel like if I had one of those cams I would get crazy shots in the clubs.

IMO you don't need those high iso monsters for night club photos.
Most of the good club shots I see are at ISO400-800

if you shoot alot of ambient then I guess you do

imo the most natural club shots come when there is little or no flash used.. and for those shots, high ISO is king. btw is there any reason you refer to them as "monster"? I'm asking because I saw someone in the POTN nightclub thread refer to 5D2 as a "beast" and it had me going . why? I don't see anything monsterly or beastly about them, you just set the ISO high and shoot, they make it very easy to take night shots. How does that make them a "monster"?

I call them a monster because of how high you can set the iso and how noiseless the higher ISOs can be
