If it keeps or improves the S90's controls and ergonomics, I'm very interested, too!

From EOS-Numerique
A thread has shown up on the EOS Numerique forum about what’s coming shortly. I will talk about what’s posted there.

http://www.eos-numerique.com/forums/...entree-153805/

Here’s what I know so far
As I wrote yesterday, 2 of the big white lenses are going to be replaced. The above link says all 4, however I’m still told it’ll just be 2 at a time.

300 f/2.8L IS II
400 f/2.8L IS II

[CR3] on at least 2 big white lenses getting replacements.

Zooms
The above link points to a 100-300L. I’ve heard a bit about this over the last few weeks.

If I had to guess, it could be an EF 100-300 f/4L IS. It wouldn’t be 2.8 and I highly doubt it would be variable aperture.

A wide angle zoom is also coming, I’ve heard 16-50 f/4L IS. It may be something different, but I do not see a 2.8 replacement of the 16-35 f/2.8 II.

The 8mm-12mm mentioned in the forum post I’ve heard nothing about.

Like we’ve said in the past, there are 3-4 lenses coming this fall.

I will [CR2] this.

The Bad News
I have heard NOTHING about the following desired lenses.

24-70 f/2.8L IS
If it’s coming, it’s been very well hidden. Not a single source has mentioned anything about it.

50 f/1.4 II
Nothing has come my way in a long time.

August 19 Announcements
The above thread also says there will be announcements tomorrow. To be honest, I’ve received an equal number of yays & nays for camera stuff being announced tomorrow.

More soon
from canon rumors.

anything announced wouldn't matter to me.

EOS 60D Coming August 26 [CR3]
Where are the SLR’s?
The embargo on the 60D doesn’t end until August 26, 2010. So that’ll be next Thursday.

No word on what else will be announced with it.

Expect at least 2 lenses.

1Ds Mark IV
I’ve heard nothing about an announcement date for the camera, only that it’ll be around for Photokina.

Big White Lenses
A few people are saying all 4 of the big whites are being replaced. This may be true, but I still believe they’ll be updated in pairs.

*UPDATE 2* Canon EOS 60D Specs [CR2.5]

* August 25, 2010
* Canon 60D
* Follow on our forum

*UPDATE 2*
Expect to see in camera filters of some kind.

A few more new features are also in the camera. Here’s hoping one of them is continuous AF in video mode.

*UPDATE*
The specs are CR3 now, I just wanted to add a couple more things.

* 96% VF
* All 9AF points are crosstype

There are a couple more new features I’m told. However, the features were vague. There seems to be a language barrier, I’ll keep digging.

Are these the 60D Specs?
I was told to CR3 this, I’m going to CR2.5 it instead. We’ll know soon if they’re true.

Canon EOS 60D Specifications

* 18 MP. 17.9 effective
* APS-C
* 100-6400 (Hi: 12800)
* 1/250 flash sync
* sdxc/hc
* h.264
* 1080 – 30/25/24
* 720 – 50/60
* 3″ Screen, 1MP
* 14 bit
* 11 min video
* 5.3FPS
* digic 4
* 9 AF points
* 63 zone (metering)

The specs came from d-spot.

These are pretty much what we’re reported for the last few weeks. We’ve reported the switch to SD cards previously as well.

The 5.3fps is a new one, as is H.264.

I can already hear the complaints about the 9AF points. We’ll have to wait and see if it’s an updated AF system. At the pricepoint I’ve heard for this camera, I doubt it.

I’m also interested to know if the body is 100% plastic as previously reported.

Thanks Y

cr

1 minute to see..

If it's like other mirrorless systems the crop factor will be x2, so it'll be 10mm focal length.

Anyone else used any of those mirrorless electronic viewfinder cameras? A local photog let me play with his for a bit one day - I just can't get used to it. The delay kills me. I can't see myself buying one.

Sounds like even CanonRumors doesn't believe it thought:
This all looks too good to be true. I have no doubt Canon is working on an EVIL system, but this camera system is a lot for 2011.

My other issue is with the lenses, they’re pretty much ALL primes. I have doubts a consumer product would launch with that many prime lenses.

The sensor size isn’t very Canon.

The source at Xitek (Where this originated from), is a known bad rumor felon.

http://www.canonrumors.com/2010/09/c...ships-in-2011/

* September 25, 2010

It seems that both Canon and Nikon are aiming for very high megapixel flagship cameras near the end of 2011, somewhere in the 35-45 mpx range.

This exceeds original reports of a 32mp sensor inside the 1Ds Mark IV.

Before either of these cameras launch, I suspect both Canon & Nikon will release big megapixel cameras to come above the D700 & 5D Mark II. Think in the 28-32mp range. This would match up with some stuff I’ve been told in the past.

some of the latest canon rumors.

Canon 5D Mark III / 1D Mark IVn [CR1]
JANUARY 11, 2011 1D MARK V, CANON 1DS MARK 4, CANON 5D MARK III FOLLOW ON OUR FORUM
5D Mark III
Reports that a few select photographers in Australia have been testing prototypes of the replacement to the 5D Mark II. Australia is used a lot as a testing ground by the sounds of it. Any replacement that comes will definitely arrive in Q4 of 2011 at the earliest.

A couple of folks have mentioned that Canon’s recent manufacturing woes could delay some products in 2011.

1D Mark IVn
I received another interesting “rumor” that a replacement to the 1D Mark IV may in fact be a model without video and introduced in 2011. There have been a lot off issues in regards to the rights of still photographers being able to shoot video at stadium events. This is the first time I’ve heard such a thing.

This is the second time I’ve heard of a 1D Mark IV replacement coming in 2011.

1Ds Mark IV
Nothing worth writing about has been brought to my attention. The last I had heard, their was going to be a big departure in the model and we may not see it until 2012.

8-15 f/4L Fisheye, 300 f/2.8L IS II, 400 f/2.8L IS II
All three of these lenses are still scheduled to hit the retail market in March.
*UPDATE* More 5D Mark III / 1D Mark V & Lenses [CR2]
JANUARY 12, 2011 1D MARK V, CANON 5D MARK III, CANON LENSES FOLLOW ON OUR FORUM
*UPDATE* No IS in a new 24-70L ?
A couple of folks have come forward and said we won’t see IS in a new 24-70L.

Remember this patent? There’s no IS.

5D Mark III
Some more clarification about the upcoming 5D Mark III. It will be moving a bit more high end with an improved 7D AF system. Expect it November/December 2011.

1D Mark V
The next version will be moving into the 1Ds territory as the new high end digital SLR. Expect it to be fullframe by the sounds of it. Late 2011/early 2012. No specs finalized yet.

24-70 f/2.8L IS
It’s coming and will be announced with a camera body at the end of 2011. I haven’t heard a peep about the lens in a while.

100-400
An interesting tale about this lens. Apparently the replacement has been canned and is being redesigned.

some more 5D3 speculation - I would LOVE to see it get an articulating screen!

http://www.pcworld.in/news/5-most-aw...-2011-43492010
Canon may name the next product in this dSLR series, as either the EOS 6D or the EOS 5D Mark III. This product would succeed the current Canon EOS 5D Mark II. It may offer a 24 Megapixel sensor and dual DIGIC 4 processors. The 3-inch display may be an articulated LCD screen with 1.04 million dots. What is more, it may be touch sensitive, making it the first full-frame camera with such technology.

When it is expected: This model from Canon's stables is expected to be available before the first half of 2011 ends.

My only concern about the articulating screen is the possibility of it being easy to damage/break off. Haven't seen one in person, so can't say for sure. Touch Screen and other gadgets are cool, as long as they don't fail.

Articulating screens are so handycam.

I think if I had one it would spend most of its time stowed away in the flush position. I could see a benefit for macro if the screen image quality is good enough to get a sharp focus. Other than that... just a gadget.

5D3, 1D5 and 1Ds4 Timeline [CR1]

Lots of variables.
There is lots of stuff flooding in about the 5D3, 1Ds4 and 1D5.
1D Mark V
It’s been said before, but a new 1D in 2011. Announced in the June/July timeframe. Full frame this time around.
5D Mark III
I received 2 different announcement dates. September timeframe and in the 28mp range from a decent source and 30mp and June from an unknown source.
1Ds Mark IV
Another person in the camp of the 1Ds4 being in 2012. 40+ mp and announced in very late 2011 or early 2012. The gist of the comment was the “1Ds” moniker will be discontinued.
CR’s Take
Stuff is starting to flow in again, there will be some truths buried in all of it. A camera announcement of some kind is on the near horizon. As always, I’ll keep digging.

from April 9th... we could be hearing about the 5D3 and 7D2 within a month...

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...ssage=38176836

Hi

My local dealer, media markt, claims that the new 5d3 and 7d2 will be announced within a month and in the shelves this summer. The sales representative was so sure and convincing that I am selling my 5d2 before the price drops. He claimed the sales team already prepares for the rush of totally 7 new models/updates from Canon and Nikon, and that the new add's from media markt are being prepared formthis as we speek!

I hope its true!!

Anyone else who heard this?

Two DPR Rumors in one Week!
[1K1] posted a [DPR] rumor about a 5D Mark III and 7D Mark II being announced within a month.

Enjoy the spelling mistakes.

CR’s Take
Not likely. I think I’ll see a 200-400 f/4L IS 1.4x before I see a 7D Mark II.

I know of two dealers that have advanced knowledge of some product announcements, and by advanced… I mean about 48 hours.

5D Mark III & More

755Share

In the wild?
There’s word that Canon is sending out test bodies of the next 5D to various key photographers. Obviously they’ll be under a veil of secrecy. Once this happens, we tend to start getting better information.

There’s a thought the next 5D will not push megapixels, but will in fact push image quality and noise reduction. There will be a lot more sharpness and detail at higher ISO. (ed: ) The 26-28 megapixel range is becoming the resolution I keep getting told.

There is apparently a couple of different prototypes in existence.

What’s for certain is it will have a 19 point AF, no word on how many crosstype sensors.

1Ds Mark IV / 1D Mark V
The same person alluded to the merging of the 1D line being sooner than expected. There would need to be some new tech in a merged 1D to keep the 10fps of the 1D and the resolution of the 1Ds. It should be interesting.
cr

I'm not sure if I'll dump the 7d, but definitely getting the 5DmIII if rumors hold up! 7d as my backup cam might be overkill... maybe trade my 7d with someone + cash.
