I'm invested heavily in Canon so that choice was made a long time ago.

You're never invested in camera gear. You just buy it.

That's a lot of work and effort. Most of the cameras between the competitors seem to be pretty comparable in terms of performance so whatever.

I totally agree with the whole investment thing, it's never an investment... but I think when people use the term "invest in ______" they are referring to committing or the commitment into a mount... I don't think anyone actually expects a financial return on any purchase

I know, it's just a term. But people have used it in monetary terms with the camera gears they own. Just one of those things, I'll always comment on.

Just like when people say "I've got a lot invested in the car..."

The only way to turn over your gear without losing your ass, monetarily speaking, is to buy used or refurbed. I can sell all of my stuff with almost NO loss because I did just that. In fact I could probably sell some specific pieces and make some $$ based on what the current used prices are.

I'm just not emotionally attached to canon so I always have my eye on "better" tools.

lol didn't mean it as a financial term at all. Mostly the fact that I already have everything Canon and it would be a lot of effort to change it all.

On top of that, I know the interfaces, the abilities, the limits, the lenses, etc.

I know electronics depreciate, not an idiot.

Rumor: Canon’s 5D Mark IV Might Feature 4K Video

DL Cade · Jul 03, 2014

5kmiii

One of the hopes people had for the Nikon D810 was that it would feature 4K video, but even though Nikon made it obvious in the press materials that this camera is a capable video machine, the rumored 4K capability never came to fruition.

You can understand, then, why we’ll suggest you take this next rumor with a grain of salt. Nothing like getting our hopes up only to have them dashed.

According to Canon Watch, a tipster has told them that the Canon 5D Mark IV, which is rumored to arrive in early 2015, will sport 4K video capabilities. To be fair, it seems more likely that Canon will implement the feature than Nikon (given their history as a leader in DSLR video) but we’re still trying not to get our hopes up.

The rumored announcement is still a ways away, so keep checking back in the interim and we’ll be sure to update you as rumor sites reveal more of the camera’s potential specs.

Just remembered this, and I didn't mean new as in brand new in box, just new as in a newer body that what I have.

Image of the new 100-400

F4F1DF40-3D1B-491B-B111-1AE7D6A82531.jpg

Below is a rundown of what we’ve been told about the lens.

Smaller than the current EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS
Will retain the same aperture range of 4.5-5.6
Zoom ring design instead of push/pull
Similar design to the EF 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS (zoom ring at front of lens)
Lens hood is designed to make using polarizers easier
Lens hood will be ET-83D (from DCI)
New thumb screw design on the foot of the lens
Obvious optical, AF and IS improvements
Said should be announced soon.

I very rarely go above ISO 3200 - I'm usually around 320-800 or so - when I'm not at 100 that is - so the max of 6400 is completely OK with me. If I'm doing club photos (which I don't do too much these days) I'll entertain 1600-3200, as needed.

hehe won't be shooting too many snaps with this camera, all shots are gonna be deliberate

if you gotta use it for a situation where you are shooting a lot, just use a smaller mode.

all about efficiency.
