C&P Random Thread -
I was doing a bit of experimentation on the weekend. I put this together with a bit of improvisation.

I was second shooter for a wedding with my sis-in-law. It was fun, but grueling. I hope to upload some more of my shots once I get permission. I *might* even have a contest entry.

I know what you mean about capturing the moment versus enjoying being in the moment. I struggle with that, too. I force myself to go places without the camera for just that reason, sometimes. To ensure that I really engage in what I'm doing, whether it's a hike, a festival, walking around downtown...I think it's important. I make the deal with myself that I'm not allowed to beat myself up if something visually amazing happens and I can't capture it. It's just about being there at those times.
I admit that it's hard, though, and I probably don't do that as often as I should.

During the Disney trip she was surprised that I was going to bring the camera along during the park outings. I said that telling me to leave it behind would be like telling a fisherman he could go out on the bass boat but leave the poles behind.
I try and stay very conscious of my interaction with everyone, maybe even more so now.
^^ it def takes effort to balance the two. (photo vs social interaction)

I'm convinced the Galaxy (along with the Earth) is REALLY MAD at us!

I know it's been brought up before, but without starting a new thread, or having my lazy ass to search for it
what other programs besides Photomatix can you use to compile HDR's? I gave it a whirl (the shots that is) for the first time today. I'd like to try something foe free if possible.
I have PS CS3...but I'm not sure if you can use that or not. I've heard yes. I've heard no.

Some I can think of off the top of my head:
Artizen
ok yeah that's all I can think of atm. lol
There are not many programs out there, and nothing really free. There is a new one out there I've been waiting to try HDR Photo Studio. I d/l'd for a trial but haven't installed yet.
PhotoMatix full version is about $100, the upgrade to CS5 will be $199, and will offer a lot more than just their improved HDR Pro built in to it. I heard go talk about Adobes HDR Pro, the main thing is it removes ghosting. Will have to wait and see in a few weeks.
PhotoMatix does have a "lite" version about now for about $40.

Topaz is not free. It is also not real HDR. It's HDR-look. But these days it appears there are many that think if you process a shot in Topaz, it's a HDR. Drives me up a wall for some reason.

thats not what the developers told me when demonstrating the software to me

they processed the example that adobe uses to demonstrate HDR with Topaz adjust, and it looked exactly the same using a single image.
Not to
Topaz Adjust can make it "look" HDR, but say if you shoot the inside of a house. With a lot of light coming in the windows and dark spot in the corners. Topaz Adjust will not be able to get inside and the outside on the same exposure line. You would need 5-7, maybe 9 images to get it right.
Some of the images I posted about two years ago was done with LucisArts, one image but has a HDR looks to it.

anyways i dont really fancy those styles of HDRs, i like HDRs that are well HDRs, not that over processed junk that everyone does that you dont even need multiple exposures to achieve.
why cant the 35mm f/2 have USM..
i think the 28 1.8 would be a little too wide for normal use on my 1D.
actually what am i talking about, i should just sell all my stuff..
ignore me. talking to myself here.

Has anybody heard any good/bad things about Nikon school classes?

I want to take my mom to a class this weekend. Is it worth the $?
My mom has very little DSLR xp, and I'd like to think that I am slightly above that. Do you think this class is too basic?
