BMW shoot

Finally got a few friends together for a shoot. First time out with my 30D and I love it. Here are the better ones.

The red M3 is by far the most photogenic of the cars - the background is too busy for the other colors to photograph well. I like the shallow DOF. #5 would be better if the red stuff on the ground weren't in the frame. The color of the sky in the last one is really nice.

Try shooting early morning or late evening sometime - the light is much more dramatic.

nice Imola Reds. and i like how the BBS' look and fit that Arctic Silver 330ci(?).
but the black M3 with the Vortech SC is looking hot. what kind of setup does he have there between the SC and the I-6? some sort of a custom IM?

great pics btw.

Yes he has a custom intake manifold and air to water IC I believe.

James

EDIT: Yup. Here are the specs on the kit:

2000-2004 M3 VT2 5PSI Supercharger System (108-98)
Featuring the highly efficient and reliable Vortech V2SQ supercharger unit combined with the new ESS LiquaFlow high capacity liquid intercooler manifold system with front mounted heat exchanger and optional ice expansion system for superior discharge temperature reduction and optimal power development under all conditions.

The redesigned ESS engine control software is perfectly calibrated for the supercharged engine providing optimum ignition timing under all conditions, recalibrated EGas for quicker throttle response, recalibrated VANOS control and perfectly optimized fuel delivery supplied by 6 larger Bosch injection valves included with the kit. We have spent countless hours developing and testing the new S54 VT2 system and the end result is a product we are extremely proud of.

The M3 drives and feels just like an original M3 until you step on the accelerator.. Then you will be completely shocked by the acceleration the supercharged M3 provides.

The system maintains all OBD-II functions and it is backed by a comprehensive 2 year, unlimited mileage warranty program. The system installs in 8-10 hours using normal hand tools and no irreversible modifications to the car is necessary.

It is a necessity for 2000-2002 M3's to have the oil pump/crankshaft bearings replaced according to BMW's service recall before installing the supercharger system.

System components:

-Vortech V2SQ supercharger unit.
-High capacity ESS LiquaFlow intercooler manifold system.
-Uni-belt with additional OEM quality rollers.
-6 larger Bosch fuel injectors.
-Perfectly optimized, dyno tweaked ECU software.
-CNC hard anodized brackets and hardware.
-K&N high flow air filter.
-Discharge and intake assemblies made from 304 stainless steel.
-High temperature silicone hoses with clamps
-Detailed, step-by-step installation manual + CD.
-Heavy-Duty drive belt.
-3 way, fume reduction oil breather assembly designed for boost.
-All installation hardware included
-2yr./unlimited mileage warranty.

Nice shots James. You're getting the DoF thing down nicely. Using the 24-74 2.8 aren't you? Looks like maybe a circular polarizer too.

IMO, it's OK if the background is busy when that BG is the Seattle skyline. You could clone out the stuff on the ground in #5. The 30D is sweet. Any other new lenses?

Good job.
