On my bike ride this morning I saw a yacht that washed ashore during the rainstorms we had over a week ago...guess I was the only person not aware this had happened...

These aren't very exciting pics...I have an idea that I hope I have a chance to try before it gets hauled away.

Just wanted to see what I can do without using multiple exposures. I like HDRs but you usually lose details and sharpness going that route, at least with my experience

one of the strongest aspects of using HDR is to increase the detail of a shot, think about clouds or marble, or other intricate textures such as those with varying levels of highlights and shadows - the sharpness depends on how stable your shots are.

ways to maximize sharpness for multiple exposures:

1) use the camera's timer for AEB so you don't have to touch the camera during exposures (this is on Canon, I'm not sure it does this for Nikon)

2) use a remote shutter release

3) get a sturdier tripod / mount

4) avoid windy situations / bridges or other areas with movement

5) turn off image stabilization

6) use f/8

7) even after all of this, sometimes you will still get a slightly shaky shot especially on long exposures, for whatever reason. Zoom in and spot check every exposure to make sure there is no blur or shake. If there is even a little amount, it will affect your final image. This is usually most evident on the longest exposure. If you see shake there, don't use that exposure, do the HDR with the sharp exposures. You will be able to get some HDR effect with PP, even without the brightest frame.

I struggled with sharpness on HDR's when I started out, but by practicing and practicing and remembering to use these techniques, my shots got noticeably sharper.

I cant see that it has updated, but I re-worked that one. Took the flares way down and tried to mimic some flashes to brighten up the car. Looks much better.
