Backlight can be a tricky thing...
I can take a pic and tell you its backlight, but you would argue with me and tell me it was front lit..how?
Simple. I place my subject with my key light source behind them. Back light. Then, I simply use something as easy as a white card and bounce some light on them in the front. Doesnt matter that I'm using a little bounce...my key source is the backlight.
Go watch a film like brave heart or legends of the fall...mainly backlit movies

I personally think that (very nice) entry could be "bent" into the mold...

Cool. I think it's too easy to say "backlit" and expect the light to come from the back, period. The main distinction is that the light is not coming from the direction of the camera, right.

Big Block go VROOOM!
Upon closer examination, I concur. Sorry about that hdcolumbus. The landscape photog in me wants to always assume a really low Sun angle above the horizon which is why I initially thought the shadows were being cast almost across the frame. After looking again and realizing that the Sun is above the horizon by a good amount, I can tell that this is indeed significantly back lit.

Yeah, there are! I'm going to have as difficult a time deciding which to vote for as I'm having deciding which of mine to put in...

Kimball in Graceland
This is one of the first pictures I shot with my DSLR back in March 2007. This is part of the William Kimball grave site in Graceland Cemetery in Chicago. He founded the Kimball Piano Company.

Mods, please delete my above post. Image needed a border.
Not sure if this entirely qualifies, (if not, I am happy to remove it):
