Congrats! Welcome to the club.

1) Turn them off before you close the door?

2) Blue xenons?

acura_driver, you beat me to the punch.

1. Yes, there is no auto on feature for the lights, so if you do not shut them off manually, it does it automatically (turn them off), however, the downside to this is that once you open the door, they turn back on This is a strange set up.

2. Blue, they are blue for about a minute until they fully heat up. The 2nd Gen TL's had blue lights, but they are not as good as the white spectrum ones, and just look at the BMW's and Audi's, thier Xenons are white, not blue.

Congrats on your purchase!

thanks for helping me.. ill post pics this weekend... also... is there a way to turn off the voice guidance for navigation and just have the Map show?... i dont like having the voice pop out suddenly all the time... other than that ive really like the car so far... but ive only had it for 4 hours...

Navi resolution is fine... its just that the navi sometimes shows a weird route to get somewhere, but no navi is perfect.....

Sound system is great.... i have the REM dvd-a, metallica dvd-a, and the Eagles "Hell Freezes over" DTS disc (mixed by Elliot Scheiner)... the sound is awesome... my XM hasnt been activated yet, but the limited demo has sounded pretty clear so far....

I Have Centaur 50 tint... dealer applied, so hopefully it doesnt mess with radio or GPS

ill write more as i drive more this weekend, reviews from other people on this board helped me out a lot!... ill post photos this weekend because tonight, there was just too much homework from school.

Yes, on the first page of the setup screen you can disable the voice. However, that will also turn off the voice feedback in response to voice commands.

I don't think this is strange at all. Because there is NO auto-light feature, that's why the TL needs to turn the lights back on at some point (in this case, it happens the next time you open your door). Technically, when you forget to turn your headlights off and leave the car, your lights are still "ON" but the TL temporarily turns them off for you until you come back.

Wait, there is NO auto-light feature?? So, does that mean that I will always have to manually turn on my lights at night??? I just want to make sure that I understand correctly.

You're correct that you'll have to manually turn the headlights ON at night. Or you can always leave them ON and let the TL temporarily shut them down between rides for you. I wouldn't do that, though.

It's no big deal for me as I'm used to my Accord and Prelude which have no auto on/off headlights.

If I leave them ON, then they will be on ALL THE TIME, right (even during the day)? Well, I guess this is something that I will have to adjust to...**sigh**

2001 V-8 Lincoln LS ... it has auto headlights with an adjustable timer...meaning I can choose how long I want the lights to stay on after I turn the car off (anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes).

Actually, my husband has auto lights in his Maxima as well. It doesn't have the adjustable timer, but it does has auto lights.

The new 04 TL has an adjustable auto-off timer for the headlights. It can be adjusted to shut down the headlights anywhere from 15 seconds to 1 minute. I am not sure however when the timer starts, probably once the key is taken out of the ignition or maybe once the car is locked. Someone who owns the new TL needs to answer that one.

about the headlights.... yes in the MID you can adjust settings from 0s, 15s, 30s, 60s (i think it has 60) for when the lights turn off after you shut off or lock.... BUT, when you come back to your car, and your headlights are still on, whenver you press the Unlock button on the wireless thing the lights come on, it doent wait until you open the door, but when you press the "Unlock" button on the keyless remote

Thank you for the clarification. I like this feature! Too bad there is not a photocell sensor to prevent the lights to come on automatically during the day.

i was wondering why when i set my car to "beep" it didnt beep... i read in the manual and it said if you press the lock button a second time within 5 seconds of the first time that is when it beeps...

on another note, i bottom out going 60mph on like this hump in the middle of the road (dfw area people know that our roads are crowned [the middle is higher than the sides]...which becomes a mini liftoff jump at some intersections)... i looked at the underside after and nothing appeared to be damaged... still holding my breath.

Perhaps this can be used as a safety feature as well. My g/f works at a hotel close to the airport, and the parking lot doesn't have too many lights because the hotel must keep it dark enough for airplanes landing. So if she leaves the headlights on and uses the remote to unlock the door, she can have the headlights turned on from far way before she actually gets to the car.
If that's how it works, then I like it a lot!

This is how it works in most Honda cars that I've owned or seen. When you lock the car remotely, lights just blink. The beep doesn't mean that you're locking the car, in Honda's style the beep means "YES, you locked me already! Now go shopping."

Actually, I believe the beep is to turn on the alarm. If you press it once, it only looks, but if u press it twice the alarm turns on.

FYI my friend has a POS Chevy Prism that has auto headlights that turn on at night,

My mom has a 99 CLK and when you shut the door the lights (fogs or wahtever) turn on so you can see where you are going and then auto shut off, same w/ Caddy I believe, but they do not turn back on when u open door I don't think

No the alarm sets after the first click. Think about it how dumb would it be to just lock the doors and not set the alarm? Click the button once and you will see your alarm indicator blinking.
