Saab's however don't have have anything in common with the airplanes they've sold so their slogan doesn't relate to their vehicles in the same meaningful way. Saab is reaching with this. Big time. It's a blatant subversion to distract image conscious consumers from their mediocre cars. If it's a 'little history lesson' they certainly don't give you much information about Saab's beginnings. BMW also has a history in aviation but they don't advertise it like this. It's not applicable.

i fail to see how current saab interiors are anything like a jet cockpit or for that matter very unique. they're pretty awful looking actually and that is something you see echoed often when their cars get reviewed.
as for the exterior shape and mechanics? sorry but i just don't see it. the wing design is long gone and the key in the floor thing is just a lame gimmick that needs to go.

That would be a cool historical slogan for BMW:
"BMW, we powered Nazi's fastest fighter planes"

Another item is their tradition of turbo engines. Even today with the new V6. LIke jets have turbine engines.
Certainly, you cant find a car being mostly similar to a Jet, no doubt. But there has always been an effort, plus it's smart from a marketing standpoint.
A good marketing messages doe not always have to be 100% realistic in order for it to work. Born from Jets, IMO, works.

As a sidenote: I was watching some old Topgear stuff the other day, in which JC was playing around with a 9-5. I think he said that from 50-70mph in top gear, a 9-5 is faster than a freakin 911 turbo in topgear.
I can attest to this. I drove my uncle's Saab 9-3 vert pretty extensively, sometimes on 10hr trips from the US to Canada, and its "real-world" pulling power was just phenomenal. More importantly the car had "character" and was real fun to own and drive.

I like it? Seems like it has a bit of the muscular stance from the 2G CTS. The front fascia looks great, well resolved, mostly due to some obvious Audi cues, right down to the LED and multi-spokes wheel design. Not bad, I suppose. I'll wait for more pics.

The sizzle in the Steak
I dunno...looks "love it or hate it"....and I'm not sure where I am on that.

I have always liked Saabs, and this new 9-5 looks awesome.
To add to the jet-like discussion, the 03-06 9-3s came with a sea of buttons all over the dash. Feels very plane-cockpit-esque. I like the feeling you get when driving a saab - it's unique.
